I cannot find boots that are comfortable AND durable.  I wear 13EE and have very large calves.  Most over calf boots won't go over mine.  All the boots that I can get over my calves get holes poked in them 1st or 2nd time out?

I was planning on buying 2 pairs.  One pair knee high abnd one pair thigh or hip boots.

Maybe but not sure.... the Lacrosse alpha burlys. They have the flap in the back that alows a larger calf to go inside.

Mite check into the green lacross boots as clay mentioned, they are veryy comfortable (i use them). Also you may want to check into the wick froglegs, they arent made to wade in all day but are ideal for crossing water etc. Wick will custom make them to fit you.

I used to have the green LaCrosse boots, I had to FIGHT to get my calves into them. I just purchased another fat boy boot, that expands on the side. Still have the same problem with them, they are just about impossible to get into. I even tried using some foot powder to try to help my leg slide in.

If you find some boots that work, please let me know.

Are yall looking for snake protection or water proof?

I have given up on snake boots for the same reason. Going to get some chaps and just wear regular boots... fat boy here to. Grin

Brute,

I hit Academy last week and bought some lace up snake boots for 50.00  so far they fit me ok. But I have only worn them on one short hunt. Not sure how they will do when walk hunting for miles and miles. I think I will try some chaps too, just to see if I like them better

The boots I was talking about earlier are rubber boots.    I got so mad trying to put some on the other day, I wore a new pair of Twisted X as mud boots, now they are sitting out in the rain getting stiff. Angry

If you don't mind spending the extra money, DANNER Snake boots are the way to go. 17" tall, and I wear mine everyday to work. They're waterproof (Gore-tex), snakeproof (which means they're puncture proof) and the first pair of snake boots to last me (wear them from august thru April 5-6 days a week) for three years.

mine in action, but if you got big calves then look at the lace up ones, they got rings the laces go thru instead of hooks.

Waterproof, we wade thru this crap every hunt it seems

Yep those are good boots. I saw some lace up for $165.

Buddy's father does upland bird hunts and he takes his Danners to a leather shop and they stretch out the tops so they will fit around his calf... I didn't think of that. Undecided

Those Danners look like a good candidate for me as well.  Fell out of a tree stand two years ago and shattered both heels.  All that metal down there dont do well with my hobbies. :Smiley

If you want the best over the calf boots that money can buy, order some Russells.  They are by far the best boot I've ever worn or seen.  They ain't cheap, but they can be rebuilt & they'll last.  They're hand-made to your own dimensions.  Russell Moccasins.  They're bad bad bad to the bone.  You can get leather, or the goretex style snake boots.  If you can imagine a configuration, they'll build em.

Jlingle,

I just checked out the site. They look like some really nice boots. The ones I like start at 498.00.

How long have yours lasted before the need rebuilding, and do you wear one pair all the time, or do you swap boots every other day?
