Well we took a group from Idaho out yesterday.....

First hog was a small boar we caught about 20lbs that is now a happy #18 ear tagged barr we casterated

then we found this little guy with good cutters out in a Gulf Cordgrass flat and stuck him..

Next was a small sow the dogs tore the ears off of so we finished her

All in all not a bad hunt, these guys had a blast and more people that'll spread the word that it's not wrong to hunt with dogs

The three guys in the front of the group picture were guest out at the lease. I been down at Norias for the first two days of this week and we hog hunted yesterday. I think the only time I been in town was after dark thirty and I'm about to head in and drop the hog and two javelinas they got off at Hiblers

nice cutters on that one, and a good haul. and teaching new people how to hunt our way means we have a few less enemies and skeptics out there, good job!  Grin

Yup, the man holding the dogs in pics was the most skeptic I think, but after the hog we stuck was caught, he couldn't believe how fired up the dogs were. Also the boar was caught in what is basically marsh (we came REAL close to burying the gator getting the catch dogs and hunters out there) but since it was wide open they got a front row seat to the train wreck of those dogs getting that pig.

We do about 15-20 of these hunts a year with 5-10 guys riding along per hunt, don't worry about recuriting new people, we're doing your part! Wink Grin Grin Grin

Norias is a nice little drive from town, do you come back and forth every day or stay out there?  Are you on an internship with the ranch or a full time employee?

Yup up at 4am and leave the Laureles camp around 5am, hunt all day and come home. What, did you girls think being a hunting guide was glamorous? Grin Grin Grin I did 2 internships on the King back in the spring of '05 then again in the fall of '06, currently I am the Camp Manager of the Alazan lease while I complete my degree, then I'll take over biologist duties

Good hunt Russ... I bet them fellas from Idaho had a blast.

Yeah, that little boar has a nice set of cutters on him.

Sounds like y'all will have some good, heavy hogs in a few years. Wink
