me, swamphunter, fonzie and steven another guy went to white oak creek off of hwy 67 this weekend to hunt some public land. we cut the dogs loose and found a hog in about 1 and a half hoursso we cut the 2 bulldogs and 1 stag loose at about 150. one bulldog and the stag came back cause he broke before they got there. swamphunters bulldog went A LOOOOOONG way and caught right by the creek, not knowing jodan was already there and hearing the dogs barking and a slight squeal i thought the dogs were trying to catch, i thought fonzie cut his bulldog but when i noticed he didnt i went to let go of the clip and accidently let the stag go from 150ish and he bout through jo when he got there cause he was already hobbling this pig, after all the ruckus was over we start headin back to the truck missing steven. well me and fonzie were worn out from draggin this 160 lb boar through swamps so fonzie stuck him and we tried getting back to the truck but his garmin was jacked up. needless to say we got lost at about 230 or 3ish. dark starts to roll around and it started raining even more. jodan called the game warden for help and brought 3 counties it seemed like. i asked fonzie to see his garmin and took the lead, we tied the 3 dogs to a tree and marked on the garmin so we could come get them this morning. finally figurng out the way we needed to go we finally got back to where we parked and the "rescue station" was set up between 1100 and 1130 that night. we were lost for about 10 hours but luckily made it out with only some scratces from the thorns and mild hypothermia from having to wade through the creeks rising from the rain and also the 40 some odd degrees that felt like it was in the teens. we found out this morning that we were 1.2 miles from the closest road and the next one was about 2.5 to 3 miles away. those pigs out there are some mean thuggish pigs that also run.

If i knew how to post pics on here i'd post a pic of the pig.

That sounds like a horrible position to be in at night. A map card is well worth $25 they cost. Glad y'all made ig out.

Were yall able to go back in this morning and get the dogs?  That is a bad position to be in and it can make you feel physically sick if you start thinking about it much while your out there.  Garmins are great are smart phones are even better but before those we didn't go anywhere without a lot of research on google earth and a standard issue compass.  Real glad to hear your story had a happy ending!

I am glad it worked out for you guys...but an old timey compass will get you out of a bind...a 3 dollar compass from walmart has gotten me and my friends out of the woods more times than I can remember...

man that was yall that they were looking for. next time yall go down their, if you get turned around just sit down and be real quite for about thirty minutes. when you here the train, walk towards it. lol....just so yall know, their is about a spot in those bottoms, and i dont know why,  garmin will lie to you...we were in their lst monday in the same spot and it was happening to JR's. it will do it every time. i cant explain why, but it does.
