I got held mandatory at work on Saturday.  So after pulling a 48 I was ready to get off of the Red taxi and get some hunting in.  Got off at 7 and  By 8:15 we turned dogs loose on the edge of a field that will be planted in corn starting tomarrow.  Had Newt and Paris and my dads Chiggar pup. Paris found this sow and the pups joined in, they weren't bayed for just a second before the Chiggar pup caught.  Got her fliped and got the pups whooped off and they rolled out with Paris.  The pups came back in with no Paris then commenced a liittle shoat chase round and round.  Caught the pups off the shoat race and went back to the truck to track Paris.  Drove around to the beep and heared her bayed.  Went in to her and she had a big sow about 220lbs bayed up in some fairly open woods.  I could not get close enough for a shot before this willey old sow would spot me.  So I called for reinforcements after busting the bay twice.  Dad dumped the pups to Paris and the sow, which was trying to leave at this point, and they had a solid bay going on in no time.  I got there and this time it was the opposite of before, I was plenty close but the dogs were too tight for me to get a shot.  Went to get my camera out and get some more action shots but the battery was dead.  I could see the chiggar pup getting tighter and he wanted the ear.  He caught but was not much of an anchor on this big sow.  Newt finally caught an ear as well but this big sow shook him off when I went to leg her and she tried me but I polled her off with my rifle.  I eventually got ahold of her tail and fliped her.  The Chiggar pup had the ear the whole time.  If he pulls that stunt on a bad hog he's gonna learn a hard lesson.  We gathered up our hogs and moved to the woods on the other side of the cropland.  Newt struck In a bad bad thicket.  The only good thing about that spot is there is almost always hogs in it.  Other than thats its a bad briar thicket that has modified more than a few of my shirts.  I could not see the hog in that mess.  It seemed to be a good boar.  The hog busted and long story short, he smoked us.  Newt was well behind Paris when the hog broke and he fell out of the race at the river.  I waited an hour for Paris to come back across and called it a day when she did.
