Well Sean,Matt, Harry and I loaded up the dogs and met up at Lawrence's place out of Navasota yesterday morning. We met Lawrence and Joey and their friends Paul, Dowdy and Bullock that's never hunted with dogs before. We got our game plan together, sorted out the packs of dogs and went over some safety rules with the new guys.

We ended up with four big sows that morning, 230,180,180 and 150 lbs on the scale. Joey and Dowdy got to stick their firt hogs. Grin

Cleaned hogs, ate lunch and headed out for an afternoon hunt. Wasn't long before we were on them again. Caught two side by side in a slough... the dogs rolled out and caught one more before we had them out. Got those three back out and moved on. Went about ten more minutes and they were in a group again. This time we ended up in the middle of the river on a good sow. Harry jumped in, swam over and caught her by the ears... them fellas got a kick out of that. It was right at dark, Harry and Lawrence were soaked... so we called it a day. The four that evening were around 175,150,125 and 75 lbs.

I would like to thank Lawrence again for having us out... we had a good time! Here's some pics:

Man that was fun!!!!  We had really good dog work all day and the hogs cooperated which didn't hurt at all.  It was really fun hanging out with everyone and getting everyone in on the action.  We got on one really good boar that Mike's "birdie" dog found and was bayed but eventually put the slip on us but not before cutting Lawrence's dog up a little, dang hog tried to run ole Hegar and Bullock over when he made his slip.  Thanks to the good Lord because that was the only injury for the day.  One of those days you don't forget for a long time.  Thank again Lawrence for having us out.

all i got to say is that may have been one of the best hunts anybody could go on!! Grin  thanx again to mike, sean, matt and harry for taking for comin out and showin me and my friends a great time.  It was sweet!!  and yall havent even heard half the story.  we put the dogs on the ground rite outside the gate and went down to turkey because i had seen some hogs done there the day before.  from what our veteran hunters say,  the dogs were goin crazy in every direction cause there was so much scent that the dogs couldnt line itout. as we made a circle through the creek bed i saw duce bounce off the left and the other dogs took off rite behind him.  in about 5 seconds this huge bowling ball sow (230) came barrelling rite in front of us into a fallin down tree.  at this pt all the dogs had hammereddown in this tree.  we turned clifford lose and it was all over, got her tied and moved on.  not bad for the twenty min.  about another twenty min. or so is when birdie lined out this good size boar. as we chasing him, we were all spread out and sean was gone in the brush trying to catch some video footage, mike and matt were infront of me and said "the bay broke, he's comin rite for ya", and i was like "what" and about the time that boared appeared rite on  top of me Shocked.  I took off high steppin i thought he was gonna nail me .  thats about the time duce came out and was cut up pretty bad. a big puncture on his shoulder and a good slice on his belly. he was lucky he didnt get his guts ripped out. the boar gave us the slip and we took duce back and got him doctored up. he's doin fine now runnin around and all.  rite after that we changed dog teams were tryin to line out that boar again.  thats when we saw ole blue head back down into turkey creek. we eased over there and heard the dogs hammerin and pigs squealing.  the  sound was comin from exactly where that tied sow was.  we thought they had the tied sow but they were bayed up down in the creek bed with another hog.  harry jumped in the water and grabbed the hog  and joey hopped down and got his first stick. it was amazing we both those pigs rite by each other and not one dog on that tied hog. i know its a long story and that isnt even half the hunt, from river swimmin , to thick navasota river bottom brush it was one wild hunt. thanx again to everybody for  pulling their own weight and "Gittin in der and Gittin dat hawg".
