In my opinion its all about the tr ;Daining of a pup.. yeh good genes helps to get them started but I've had mix dogs turn out to be ten times better then any high dollar papered dog... ur dog is only gunna b as good as the effort u put into training them.. id rather get a that's free or at the most 200. Dollars and turn it into a 3000 dollar dog then spend a grand on a pup and mabe end up with a pretty gopher dog

Id pay that for a pup if it was what I WANT. That's cheaper than raising one to hunting age. Must sell some or they couldn't ask it. Supply and demand.
I have sold some even higher than 1000 ive also sold for a lot less I dont claim them to be the best dog walking or anything else far as that goes most of my customers are repet or they hunted with someone that has had dogs from me I hunt my dogs every week I cull hard but I can also say I havent had to cull for lack of hunnting ability in many years
I am a breeder and if you factor in all cost hunting, vet bills, fuel, food ,kennel supplies ,huntig supplies, and hunting transportation you are still in th hole
so ya if I ca ge the money I get it and if some how I make money I still would put it back into the dogs some form or fassion
It always amazes me every time this topic pops up the foundation is the only one talked about I can think of a few other lines out there that have same price range if you can get them at all, but I guess cause there are gettig to be so many foundaton dogs out there and many trying to breed and sell pups
we get this response
happy posting

I'm like you airduster, I always laugh when I see this topic come up. As a person that has spent anywhere from nothing to $1000 a pup for dogs there's only a few ways to look at it. If you have that kind of money and you want to spend it that's your business, if you don't have the money or don't wanna spend it, don't cry about the people that do. Nothing anyone buys effects anybody but the buyer and seller. If your not one of those two it's not your place to say what something is worth to someone else. Not saying that every $1000 dog is a good idea, but determining that is up to the buyer. I have a dog now that I paid $1000 for at 6wks old, dog was jam up, hunting machine at a young age. At 15 months old got his hind leg cut off by a big boar. Still hunts good, but not as fast as he was. Bad luck but that is the risk you take with any dog. Wether it costs $5 or $10,000 anything can happen. Each hunter has to decide what he is willing to risk or spend, and that will vary from person to person. Some don't see $1000 as much and others think $300 is a fortune, let people spend what they want, and don't get offended when people spend more than someone else will or can

I dont have a dog in this hunt so it dont matter to me either way. I'm not spending 1000k on a pup. But do ya'll think if more and more people are willing to pay that much then that doesnt drive the market up? Kind of like a NFL player...Drew Brees agent wants what Peyton Mannings agent got him and so on and so on, the bar keeps being raised...just something to think about dont know if it even correleates.

i agree! I have bought dogs that i thought were over priced but guess what i got what i paid for 10 fold. sometime quality costs. On the same page I have bought a over priced dog that was NOT worth the price of a bullet.. homework is a big factor in buying a pup... do some research before buying a big name dog on the name alone. I would only buy dogs from people that hunt them and know their stock... and then it boils down to supply and demand i guess. just my thoughts on the subject

steven and anthony, the pups i got from yaw are turning out to be good, just a little slow on learning to leash lead, but they are getting the hang of it. the pup i got from gist curs is good aswell. took him out hunting sun and he did good for his first time out, just didnt get on anything other than cows and deer, but evidently i got a handle on vocal controls with him, bc it didnt take much to get him off the animals. I would say he is begining to be worth the $1400 i paid for him. Ooops, i hope i dont offend anyone bc i paid to much for him according to some that have posted. oh well, you spend you money and I/we will spend our the way we want. you dont like it, dont buy and dont worry about our spendings.

man I'm glad I don't chime in on these kinds of threads bc I can only imagine the amount of grief I'd get if people found out I spent 2500 on my wifes lapdog lol or the amount of money I spend on any dog I want. In the end its always up to the person spending the money to spend it how they want.

i guess thats kind of like buying one of those high price dogos or jagd pups, if a man has an outstanding line of dogs and i can get something he keeps around for several generations and the line keeps producing very good dogs. yes i would give 1000 for a nice pup. but im gonna know who the dog comes from and plan on hunting with him a few times to say the least the pup will be a female and will never see the woods. will be a brood dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

funny to me how people keep thinking that these dogs are trained to be hunting dogs and not born that way. you can train them to stay at your side. train them not to get in the trash, not to chase deer but you cant train them to go and stay for three miles for 4 hours through the worh terrain by themselves on the worst ass whoopin they will ever take, thats heart and not anything any human teaches. most humans dont even understand much less teach each it.
If you dont want to pay for a dog with the genectics then dont, when a dog has the pedigree written on paper to back up the genetics and you dont understand it, dont buy it, or dont have comment on, commenting thay papers are worthless is ignorant . If want to argue the integrity of the registry, or the falsification of the papers thats different, but just because it has "papers" does not mean that all papers/registeries are worthless. Papers are "records" of genetics, a listing of lineage for purpose of knowledge.
Some people who care about genetics and know its usefulness find it purpose worthy. Many ASK "WHY cant I get a Puppy of that Bloodline?" ANSWER- Well it aint for sale For NO AMOUNT OF MONEY TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE ATTITUDE THAT CANT APPRECIATE IT, and don't respect all the dedication and hard work that go into the preservation of certain bloodlines and traits. The YEARS AND YEARS of time spent working to get what of takes to have proven an outstanding line of dogs, ect, ect.
Then there are others that will SALE it to anybody with a checkbook or credit card, Just like there are people on this forum that will meet up with people at the roadside park and hand over a thousand dollars for a dog there never seen hunt and never do get there money worth, but yet complain about how bad, bad men told lies on the internet about a jam up dog. YEAH, its the internet.
Others that are willing to part the unsuspecting, from there money, so it takes all kinds to make the world go around and you have to either be experienced, reall lucky or real smart, or take your time be patient and read, listen and learn for awhile to decide

Wow....just checking on some of these posts.....we are still talking about cur pups right?
I keep getting them confused with morgatge payments! LOL.
.........So if I refinance my pup at 7% for the next 25 years what will my monthly payment be?
J/k guys and girls... seems like inflation is taking its toll on this post.
