john gist does give a performance warrenty on his pups. as far as some1 saying a person that pays that much for a pup is a fool. well to each thier own, you may be considered a fool by others for what you do or what you spend your money on. i paid 1400 for my pup from mr gist and 1500 from randy himself. i would never charge any1 as much as i paid for a pup unless i really dont want the person having a pup.

If you've got that kind of money to spend on a pup, and the inclination to do so, more power to you.  Thats just too damn much money in my book.  for any dog, especially a puppy.  A 1000$ dog can die just as fast and easily as a free one.

when i was making $11,000 a month, i wasnt worried about it. i think the same about paying that much for a pup, but its my money and i chose to spend it how i wanted to. these dogs can die in the woods or by lead just like you said, as easy as a free pup, but i have not been dissatisfied with my pups. to each his own

to each their own, you're right.  I gotta ask though, if I was making that much, and didn't mind spending thousands on a dog, why not buy finished dogs?  Dogs that you hunted behind, and knew they would strike their own hogs?  Why did you choose to buy puppies?

sure u can have a job. its called the world wide web, the applications are on the net. find the company that has a job that fits your job trade and submit your resume. not all jobs are paying that, but the aviation community is/was and i used the training from the military and got a contract job. good luck to ya, oh and that kinda money was made overseas, not state side. now to answer your question of buying finished dogs, would sell your finished dog/s?

I think about this a little differently.  Two different points of view:  Personally I cannot afford to pay $1K for a puppy, so I wouldn't.  But I do know of pups from a very specific cross that are worth that much and if I had the money, I would buy them.  If a buyer knows the seller very well and the seller knows the buyer very well, I think the purchase of a dog for $1K is not all theat bad.  I look at it like "insurance".  If the buyer knows for certain that he has a one year full money back gaurantee, he a year to decide about the dog and if it is exactly what he wants a the end of the year, the dog is his.

For the seller, this is a great deal because in my mind, most dogs have not reached full potential until thye are a year old.  I like waiting until 18 months.  For the seller, he gets a guy to pay for feed and shots for a whole year and then he may get the dog back.  Either he gets a cull back and he gets rid of the dog without losing a single dollar, or he gets a 1 year old dog back that has not reach potential (still a pup) that he now owns and has not paid for.  If I bred dogs for money, it would be "how I would go".

I think this is a matter of buying and selling what you want.  Someone who has the money available will pay more sometimes, just becuase they think they are buying something better.

some folks think if the pup cost more it has to be a better line of dogs...kind of like going out of state to get a better
dog. Huh? Grin

Guess in all seriousness I would have to say. I wouldn't,  couldn't,  and shouldn't pay that much for a pup. Or sell one for that much either.

How many of you would pay a grand for a common help dog?

I would figure it would be about an 95% chance at best that's what your gonna end up with.

Top knotch dogs are not pulled out of a hat like rabbits they are selected from numerous litters of decent stuff called (Culling) which I wont pay a grand each to do!

If the big name breeder himself called up and said he is running a special for today only and the reduced price was $600 dollars per pup. Still gotta say.....HELL nah brotha...bring him back at a yr and drop him in the woods and I will make a decision to spend that kinda money. Other than that the Casino is taking anyones money that wants to spend it and at least the odds are a lil better on return.   Lol

For the right amount of money, you're damn right I would sell my finished dogs.  Everything has a price...

Were you working as a PC overseas?  Because, I also worked in avionics while in Iraq and I didn't make close to that, more like 20%, and that was on federal pay scale.  Then again, I didn't have dependents or a spouse.  I heard scuttlebutt about some guys raking in money because of multiple children and a spouse that was in the military as well and both of them were deployed at the same time.

Oh, and the application thing was just a joke.  I'm not a rich man, but the field in which I work provides 100% job security.

they did notify me. 2 days before it expired. there was email chatter amongst the staff, but it failed to get dissiminated to me untill the last min. i was raised military and my dad beat integrity and selfless service into me as a child, which made it easier when i joined in 97.
