went out yesterday morning for a hunt drove around for about a hour and a half so i went up to my other property and had a look and nothing . on the way home i seen some real good hog tracks i looked up and two real good hogs ran out they were both sows by the look of them but i wasnt sure but i do know both of them were easily 90kg (200 pound) . i let my dog off and he ran in and gave chase i did the same and after about 5 minutes i heard my dog bail for about 30 seconds and then it just stopped and i couldnt hear a thing . i ran about 2 miles further  into the bush and still couldnt hear nothing after about 35 minutes i realised i wouldnt find him so i headed back to my quad and waited and called out to him. about the 45 minute mark he came back and he was covered in blood from head to toe and real buggered i checked him out and there wasnt a single cut on him so i knew were all the blood came from. i was pretty disapionted in myself because i couldnt find the hog and ive thought about it and im going to buy a tracking devise for my dog so i can find him next time this happens it should help me alot. i figured my dog had either killed the pig or she is badly ripped and hurt and will die which makes me feel even worse if thats the case because even tho i hunt with dogs i dont want a pig to suffer. but this has been a learning curve for me and getting a tracking devise will make it much easier for me to find my dog next time.

thats true mike im glad my dog was ok

ive never needed a tracking system before beacause my old dog was a bit bigger and alot stronger he could make any pig squeal. the dog ive got now is only a litlle bit bigger than a staffy and hes strong and a top dog but he dont get the bigger pigs to sqeal that often. so im gettin a trackin system in the next few months just so i can find him. so i kno whe aint hurt.

well, glad to hear the dog was okay dylan. yeah, having a tracking system is always a good idea. even when the dogs are a long ways off from you, a tracking system lets you line out a direction so you can beeline it to them. i have no doubt that it has saved our dogs some injuries considering some of the hogs they've been on, and sometimes not near close enough to hear...
