Joe Burketts stuff, from my experience were not very good.  Some might bay but didnt have much hunt at all. MIke Cauley and Trey Love are good friends with all the same blooded dogs.  Im not a big fan of the plotts but his dogs do run to catch mainly.  Lot better dog than the Joe Burketts dogs I have hunted with.  Just my 02

Joe's stuff is hit or miss for hunting, some of his crosses were outstanding others not so much. Sounds like Mr. Roberts breeds a good dog more of my likings. Do you want a catchy plott?

Im not interested in a catchy plott i have a pit for that. I want sum plotts that have sum sense an no how 2 work a hog an keep him bayed without being lock on the ear. I dont mind a dog putting sum teeth in a runner but thats about it. If a dog has sense he can hold a hog at bay till i get there with my pit.

A good hog hunting buddy has hunted with mike and trey, And from what he said they had awesome plotts. I like plotts and I have a couple good ones. I like mine to run to catch. I have have a half plott half pit that will run with my plotts and catch right behind them because she is a touch slower. What characteristics do the Orval Roberts Plotts have? I like fast rough dogs.

Call Marlin Williams man. He's got sum gooduns. They bay 4 ft away and won't touch a hog that's not runnin. If the hog runs they grab the family jewels. 361-343-3891

mathew...if you want a hound with sense that will put his nose on the ground...any ol' hound will do.  If you want a good a good hound that will trail, bay and catch...get a plott!

First plott I ever has came from Orval...three motnhs later I went to Iraq for war ( I was in the Army).  My dad took my plott and made a house dog out of her.  He had her for 12 years before she died.  He never hunted the plott but she sure was a good dog.

How good of a nose does Mr. Roberts breed for? Such as if you can compare the nose to that of a dry ground cat minded hound. I am always looking to improve my dogs and it sounds like Mr. Roberts may be source to try out.

arrow all jokes aside i would say at least 10-12 hours sometimes to clould lol, mike cauley did a cross with a supper male that had around a 20 hour nose, i dont remember the name of the dog but he was and is well know. mr. roberts dogs will stop a hog no problem, but they dont catch the bay they will get in the hogs face, now they aint scared.

HORJUA...are you talking about Mike's cross to Hog Hammer Jerry Lee?  The dog was from N Florida.
