Clay, Mandi, Harry(BoarBuster67), Aaron(Gangly), Richard and I met at our little spot in Ft Bend County last night. While we were getting things unloaded and waiting on Harry to show up, I went ahead and turned out Brandy, Lizzie, and Coal. Before we had the catchdogs vested up, they were bayed up at 600 yards. We headed over to the pasture they were in, and sent the catchdogs. Got about a 100# sow, and saw several other hogs rolling out across the pasture. While Clay, Richard and I were tying up the sow, Mandi and Aaron took their bulldogs and headed out the direction that the dogs had headed. It did not take long and the dogs were reading at 1.2 miles to our south. We loaded up the sow, took her back to the truck, and about that time Harry and his son showed up. We headed out and picked up Mandi and Aaron on our way to the bay. Got to the creek and they had a small sow bayed up in a clump of grass at the waters edge. She tried to make a break for it when the catch dogs were headed her way, and she ended up drowning in the creek. We started heading back north and it wasn't long and the dogs were acting piggy, Harry's dogs knew something was in the swamp. They worked it out, and we had a short race of about 300 yards, then they had a nice boar hog caught. He was nice enough to break from the swamp and head into the open DRY pasture area. Sent the bulldogs in, and caught about a 175# boar, with 1-1/2 teeth. We took him back to the truck and while we were loadinG him in the hog box, the sow made a break for it. Clay's Mandy dog rolled out after her and they bayed up about 150 yards from the truck. So sow number one, became sow number three Got her back in the hog box, decided again, that I need to put a divider in there, then we headed to the north pasture. Got to the north pasture, dogs acting piggy again. They bayed a few hundred yards to the west, then broke, and headed north. The northern edge of the property was .6 miles, we hit property line, and my Brandy dog was still showing .8 miles north. It was pretty late, and I was not comfortable calling the landowner to get access over there, so we waited on her and the others to come back in. After that we called it a night. This morning, I made a phone call to the landowner whose place she was on. Looks like we will be hunting there this coming Tuesday. Clay will have to post the action pics. I just have a few of the hogs thinking about becoming sausage.

Matt, Here she is all painted. Looks a lot better moving down the road than it does standing still. I see a spot that I missed on the tongue under the trailer too.

Yep, LOTS of fun. We don't get to hunt enough with Harry, glad he could make the trip. His son Dalton was a hand and a half too when it came to grabbing dogs and going over them looking for injuries. Thankfully, we had a good clean run last night except for a couple of minor pokes. I would have loved for Lizzie to have been a part of that first bay, but I cheated and had her clipped. I sent her to it once it was bayed. Soooo.... I GUESS it was Chris' dogs that got that one. Lizzie just got to share in the glory. Chris and I have a bit of a ribbing rivalry when it comes to our dogs. This time his dogs outdid mine. It's not that anybody else would even feed either one of our packs, but we like to rattle each other about whose dogs are better

Mike,
You wouldn't want her once you figured out that she takes up most of a king sized bed. We don't usually let hog dogs in the house, but I'm a little embarrassed to say that a few nights a week that sorry black dog and my greyhound take turns coming inside. My prized Aussie dog isn't even allowed on the bed, and has to sleep outside when there's another dog in the house (only one dog comes in at a time). Black dog and greyhound are just spoiled rotten.
Cheers M

Thanks Chris and Mandi for letting me tag along, it was a kick butt experience. Good to meet Clay, Harry, his son Dalton, and Richard. It was a great hunt with a great group of people. Should have been there Mike .

Its amazing how lighting affects images. I was thinking that boar looked more red last night than he does in these daylight photos, maybe it was just some clay or dirt he rolled around in, I dunno. Guess my eyes were playing tricks on me.
