Hold on......ill go get the popcorn. Seriously tho, if your a guest then your at their mercy, like it or not. I would say keep looking for somebody that don't mind hunting with a hound. There are countless reasons "why" but the main one is the open mouth. Wether it opens or not. They ........backspace, backspace, backspace

I have a similar problem, my buddy doesn't care for mine and he's only half walker. When I load him in the truck and tell the wife I'm going for a short hunt, she just glares at me and says "not if your taking Clyde, I'll see u in the morning!" He has far more nose and a good bit more bottom, and I get a kick out hearing him pushing a mile when other dogs still huntin couple yards in front of the truck. Don't get me wrong I have some of them too and enjoy both very much.....some folks take it way too serious.....I just enjoy getting out and loading dogs that simply can't wait. IMO You need to look for some buddies that appreciate a respectable dog regardless of race, color, creed.

Ok since we only have curs, I will try to answer this one. I think that maybe its true what someone else said about "they have never hunted behind a good one." . I have only hunted with a few plotts that were silent. Then there is the fact that yes hounds do have great noses and lots of bottom. A hounds can take a cold track and go at it for hours. The curs we use will only take a hot track and we like that because we only have 3200 acres to hunt. Anything outside of that and we are just going to retrieve our dogs off of the neighboring properties. Which luckily, we have permission to do.
So, in our case its about the size of our property and also our preference for a silent hunt....but we do have friends with hounds and we have hunted with them. Even though hounds arent my cup of tea, I don't knock anyone else for liking them.

Its all about range brother, I wouldn't want to have to have to follow them for so far when they pick up on a colder track and run it for miles. I know theyre dang good dogs, they just hunt too cold and too far for my likes.

Igot a hound that will work you ta death when ya get in the hogs, have to have someone catch the dog the same time you catch the hog or he will go back to where he go on them and trail up another 1, its fun but it can be a workout

I used to run some plotts..... But got tired of hunting them more than i hunted hogs. Dont know how mant times i had to leave my jacket or shirt and come get them the next day to find them sleeping on top of it. Now my best strikes are 3/4 cur with 1/4 hound. I love the hunt of a dog with a hell of a nose and bottom but will bite them in the a$$ while running full speed just begging for a fight.

Many reasons for me, most of all(reason I will cull a cur dog as well) is too much bottom... properties dictate what type of dogs a person can run.. smaller properties necessitate short range, hard stopping, silent dogs... plain and simple.

People work to get their pack to hunt the way they want. Be glad they will still hunt with you. I got Dogo pups and got cold shoulder from a few people. Nobody even asked me to leave them they just don't ask me to hunt with them. They have good reasons for hunting the dogs they do and I can respect their choice. So I would say they people that ask you to leave the dog are being nice. Start complaining and you won't get to hunt with them. If you want to hunt the dogs you want then get your own places or find people that hunt the same dogs.

HAHA, sorry, when I say "cull" just means removal from my personal arsenal... usually give them to friends that fit the dog better
