i run plotts and many times i have went with my buddys and left the dogs in the box. we used there cats and curs, now dont get me wrong they have darn good dogs. we would sometimes not get onanything and they say there are no hogs in the area, i say lets see what the plotts d and about 3-5 hours latter we have pork. i like hounds because i have ran deer and rabbit since i was 5 and i am 37 now. now my freinnds want me to bring the dogs every time and kick them out first, aint that right old danny joe,. but it realy is all up to the person, i like hounds and hound crosses.

I think if a dogs got it in them to find and bay a hog then it wil find and bay a hog. The rest is personal preference. Grit, range, bottom etc...

well not everyone i hunt with hates hounds just a few i was just wondering why  i like curs better , but you cant beat a good hound ..... that bawl gets my blood pumpin !!!! |

I love hounds and would have a yard full of plotts right now but as someone else stated I would be tresspassing and retrieving dogs more than catching hogs. The few places that I do have permission on here just wouldnt suit a hound at all. If the hogs passed thru last night and are on the neighbors this morning Im tresspasing.

Many reasons for me, most of all(reason I will cull a cur dog as well) is too much bottom... properties dictate what type of dogs a person can run.. smaller properties necessitate short range, hard stopping, silent dogs... plain and simple.
Whenever yall get a dog with too much bottom and you want to cull him, before you do you need to email me before you do that and send them my way. You to TexasLacy them dogs are my favorite.  |
