Joe(JoeTBH), Ben, and I loaded up the dogs around 7:30 last night. I just had that good feeling that we were gona get on something worth getting on, you know what I'm talking about? I had been waiting all day to get off work and be in the woods. I took my whole pack for the first time together, even my 3 legged Diablo (first time back in the woods since he got hurt), and it was looking promising. We had Baus, Diablo, Joe (the dog), Fred, and Blake brought over Pistol. Dogs took care of their business as normal, and then took off hunting. They got out about 200 yards, and Pistol started sounding a little piggy... Her collar disappeared off of the Garmin, so I'm thinking, "Great, it's about to be a long night tonight of trying to find Blake's long range a$$ dog without a collar working properly.” So I swallowed my pride, and called the dogs back in and off of whatever it was they had winded. To our surprise, LOL, Pistol came back first, and whimpering. You couldn't tell what it was at first, but then we noticed she wasn't putting pressure on her back leg at all; and on top of that she was lying down in the middle of the woods! So of course, at first, we thought it was a mesquite thorn or something and checked her paw out. NOTHING... So now I'm sitting there thinking, "Crap, I bring my buddies dog out to run her for him, and she gets hurt… I can't get a break!!!" We walked out of the thick stuff to take a better look at her, and leashed up Fred so we didn't have a REALLY crazy night. She was feeling it I tell you... I have never seen this dog act so uneasy and lethargic, and in the middle of a hunt, so I knew something was up but we couldn't see any open wounds. You could see that her lower leg had started to swell, so we automatically assumed it was a snake bite and started heading for the truck. She ended up swelling up pretty good, but I figured it would have been worse. She is doing decent now, and not being so lethargic… but the leg is still swollen. Is there anything you can do to help besides give her water? Maybe some amoxicillin or something? Any advice is appreciated… I was gona post a pic of her swollen leg, but I didn't want to set off any alarms...

I.M. probably 1-1/2 cc of dex and she should probably be good. Benadryl should help too.

My house dog has been bit 4 times and two times on the same day. I just give her benadryl and send her to bed the swelling goes down in about 2 days

DMSO is found in the horse stuff at the feed store. It's a roll on. Helps with swelling.

She made a quick recovery. If it wasn't a snake then I don't know what could have swelled her up like it did, and make her so lathargic so quick... But she is doing good.
