It is a ruff day around our house went for a hunt at a new place Bella and Dusty 300 yards apart Bella Struck at 830 yards  we made it to just as the big boar broke and Dusty got there the same time. They ran right into a open hay feild and Bella turned the after burners on and got a mouth full of nuts and the Bo hog sat down they where about 200 yards for me and were bayed tight the hog charged them Dusty backed off and Bella was not backing down she hit the ear and took a small poke under her cut collar and made it about three steps and it was over and the hog broke and Dusty got it stoped at 1.64 miles out Bella was my 7yr sons dog and he saw the whole thing so we talked about it and T- mam said he wanted to kill the hog for Bella so we went to Dusty and got about 150 and cut luca to him and the hog broke again and I lost Dusty and Luca at 730yrds and did not pick the back up for a hour and a half I was starting to feel sick because I thought I had lost them for good but I got them picked up at 1.02 and sitting down and it took 45 min to get to them I think we crossed 7 or 8 creeks and we got the and Luca was working this big boar over and my son got to put some cold steel in that Bo hog and thru the tears he told me he felt better knowing he killed the hog that got his dog and thru me tears I told him that me and his mom have raised and great son and I was so proud of him Bella was not just a hunting dog but a family member as well she was a sweet heart at the house and hated a hog in the woods this house will never be the same with out her.

Clint,

Sure hate to hear about your loss.  As you look back on this hunt, be glad she went out doing what she loved. She spent her last moments on earth with your son and you partaking in what made the 3 of you happy together. Whether you've realized it or not, Luca had a good opportunity to bring the thunder as a payback for his fallen teammate. The few I lost while hunting hurt, but I know they would have not chose a better way. Having your other dogs there to help settle up, was a blessing. It's never easy. Let your son know I'm proud of him for hanging in there. I've been there, and it hurts.

I sure hate that you lost a good dog but am glad your boy got the chance to get the hog that caused the pain. I know it will never replace the dog but your boy wanting to get the hog at such a traumatic time shows a lot about what he is made of and you and your wife should be proud to have raised such a courageous young man. RIP Bella

Sorry for yalls loss man ! ! !  I hated getting that phone call from you today . .  I know how it is to loose a good one.  T-Man is a real trooper and a great hunting partner. Not many young men could or would be able to do what he done. I am proud to be able to say I had the opprotunity to hunt behind her. Litterly, cause when she was on the ground she was ALWAYS way out front ahead of you HUNTING ! ! ! !    I knopw she will be greatly missed around your house cause I knpow hopw yall are with your dogs. I think each and every one of them have even slept in your beds. LOL not many people let there hunting dogs do that. . . .

Aw man hate to hear that for your son.  He will grow and get stronger from it as  you are a great dad to help him understand.  Glad he got to put some cold steel in that boar hog atleast he knows he didnt get away . Memories of a life time right there for sure.
