Not sure I could even get in without a "sponsor" lol... but the one and only I had the privilege to attend I enjoyed immensely, and have not forgotten... I have a very small part of N/A in me, but have always felt a strong pull in some strange way...

...thinking of taking a solo vaca to see what I can see...

Thanks for any heads up,  Noah

Noah if your up for a road trip come to Oklahoma, they happen almost every weekend here once summer really set's in and you dang sure don't need any sponsor lol. Standing Bear pow wow in Ponca City, Ok. in an intertribal one where most all of our tribes from this area attend, but the Osage have 3 every year. The " Grey Horse " " Hominy "  & " NDN Camp " Plus if the find out you came from out of state to attend they will ask you to stay after and eat with the family, if ever asked it's an insult to refuse. There are way more than the ones I have mentioned. What type of Indian are ? I'm Cherokee & Delaware

Man that sounds fun Waylon, from what I have been told my great-greats on both sides were native american, Blackfoot on one side, unknown from Oklahoma on the other...  my father's family(Metzger) came from OK in the 40-50's

... I don't want no part of that tourist chit... if I fly out there it's for a reason.

Waylon have you ever been to the "meeting of the nations" in New Mexico?  Went to an Indian fair there many years ago that left me with an impression...   Went with a Ute Indian, was on a Rez, and it was not "white" friendly to put it mildly...  Grin

Noah the standing bear is not a tourist pow wow believe me. The Osage ones are very sacred and there is some do's and don't's but if you ever make it up here holler and I'll show you around and take you to some very sacred Osage places. By the way I know some Metzgers there Cherokee ( Oklahoma's largest tribe ) I've known a bunch of Ute's and never had any issues with them, but on many rez's if your skin is to white they act like A-holes. If you pass through my way ever gimme a shout and we will talk dogs over a good bowl of corn soup and a meat pie  Wink

Well to hit any pow wow's July, plus we have the calvalcade rodeo which is well worth the stop if you like Rodeo's. But if you just wanna check out some ndn country winter's are my favorite cause the ticks ain't so bad and the country is easier to get around. But I tell ya what, you find your self up this way any time of year I'll give ya the grand tour.
