Seriously, how many of y'all are like me and are more patriotic towards TEXAS than America?

I guess it's not right, but I am always annoyed when I see the American flag above Lone Star when on different poles. I didn't serve in the military for a multitude of reasons but not the least of which was the fact that you can't serve in and for your own state. I ain't leaving the place I love to fight for the freedoms of people I don't like in some third world god forsaken hell hole like new York Florida or California!!!

How bout it y'all!?!? Who's the proudest Texan? Anybody out there got the "Remember the Alamo" tattooed on your butt? How bout the Astros logo tatted to your neck?

How is a baseball team tattoo indicative of pride in the state of Texas?  Don't they have a city as a part of their name.  Teams can and do move to other states.

I found your comment about the military offensive.  My son is in the Army.  2 tours in Iraq.  Headed to A'ghan next year.  He proudly serves his country.  He does NOT choose where he serves.  He follows orders.  Maybe you were trying to be humorous  ...  but I didn't read it that way.

BTW, would not serving in the Texas Nat'l Guard, under the direction of the Texas Governor, be a way to serve your own state?

Hook 'em!!!  LOL! Do you think that the current economy and government are the reason you are so patriotic towards Texas? For me personally it is both. Texas is home, and home is where the heart is!

 RL, i served in the texas army national guard. where on the uniform does it say tx other than the unit patch? the branch tag says US ARMY, not TX ARMY. I feel that everybody ought to serve a minimum of 3yrs in the armed services unless medical conditions prevent it, but this is a country of freedoms, freedom to choose not to join the armed services. i spent 2 tours in iraq, 1 tour in bosnia, 1 tour on the tx mexico border for border security. I have not seen where the tx governor ask for the tx guard to be called upon except when the shuttle colombia went down or a natural disaster such as hurricane katrina, but the shuttle was a joint op with state and federal agencies. the boder security was ordered by the federal government.

T-Bob, you had your reasons not to join. i have no disrespect or look down on you for not doing it, as long as you dont think you are better than a soldier, which i know you dont do. i feel the same way about tx and wish tx would drop all ties with the united states if this country is gonna continue to go down the crapper. why should the feds drag our state down with them. i do see RL's point of view as to what does a sports tat have to do with tx pride, it just means you have pride for that paticular sports team. what about the houston oilers? they are now the texans or something like that. i dont follow sports so i cant give you their names. the tx flag should fly equally as high as the american flag, since we won our independence and joined the union later, not bought from another country to expand to lands of the U.S. but on the note, the original 13 colonies/states should be allowed to fly higher than the us flag since they laid the foundation for independence.
if we had a worth while governor, we need to susceed from the united states and be our own country, which we can support ourselves with access to international shipping via international water national pipleines and intrastate/interstate highways, where we can levee import export taxes and toll usage for our roads and have a surrounding states recipricating statute of commerce.

T-Bob, "HOUSTONE" was the slang or cool way to say Houston. As a kid some of us used that language..."Vamos pa Houstone ese"...mostly tex mex...

I was watching a documentary on television and no one knew where the name of the gang came from which was "TANGO"...Tango used to be the slang word for town (tex mex slang in my youngster days)...but the general hispanic population would say pueblo for town...all that language is about gone and forgotten except for the older folks like me...I know the language but don't use it unless I am kidding around with the youngsters at work...

 ryan in order for folks to actually see how it may work if texans agree to drop the u.s. like a bad habit. there of course are still things that would need to be hashed out and make go of a few yrs of a rough patch, but in the end, tx will be a better place. then we can our own immigration laws and enforce them with out bully big brother breathing down our neck.

Charles I'm with you 100% I'd like to see someone with these views try an make it happen some way somehow someone can get where they new to get in order to try an put these visions in motion!! I for one would be 100% behind whoever that should be!!

 it would first boil down to getting the right governor in office, next it would take massive support and voting for the seccession from the rest of the country. this issue has been pondered for many times for many yrs. in order to get wide spread support, promisses would have to be made to ge full support and then renig on them promisses, pissing a lot of the supporters off and possibly freight train wrecking the individual and lone state.immigration would be a factor, not to mention what would be on every tx citizen, economics. im not a politician, im a foot soldier, i have ideas, but dont know how to get them out there for the right and like minded people to act on them. getting enough people to make a change and difference is like trying to get the american people to disolve our current federal government and reinstitute a nre elected gov.
how many here would support such a dramatic change? we are all affraid change in this magnitude, but sometimes it is whats need to make a better life for our up and coming generations. we all say we want something better and more for our children, then why is it we still allow for crooks to stay in office, for our country to go down in flames, for people to stay divided and not ban together unless your involved in a specific clique with money and power already and dont realy care for the actual working class.

Folks show some Texas pride, who's got a tatoo dedicated to the lone star state? You know Texas is easily recognizable, you can't tat Colorado or new Mexico or AZ ON YOU, it's just square, and a tattoo of Florida just looks obscene
