Dog set ups for the bed of trucks.....

So I do have a dog box, but I was also wanting to rig a lil' somethin simple across the bed of my truck to hitch dogs too...particularly my big ol' AmBull who will not comfortably fit in my box. I've seen in random pics on here some folks run a chain across the bed and hook dogs to that. Anyone have pics of their set-ups of how they hook dogs down somehow in their truck beds? I drive a full size Dodge Ram and I wanna get somethin situated back there. Thanks in advance.

I have four chains running down the bed rail on either side, so 8 clips total. Make them hold their noses out and wind. Plus I can seperate aggressive dogs easier. Excuse the mess in my truck lol

get a sheet of plywood to fit the floor of your bed and some short pieces of chain with swivel clips and some fence staples.  Nail the lengths of chain down with the staples and brad the ends over underneath.  Space them apart to where when you lay them down on the board, the clips are around an inch apart.  You can carry 9 dogs like this where they can't jump out, lay over the side, or fight.

Thank's y'all!!! Great advice and great pics! I'd like to see more if there are any! I like the simplicity. I need something simple but heavy duty 'cause it's for my AmBull CD that can't fit in my box, lol.

I have built several from this design. This one is made from treated lumber, outdoor carpet and piano hinges. Have built them with square tubing metal with doors. My next box will be similar but with rigging rack, and water tank. Not set down and figured exactly how to design it yet. And it will be made with aluminum.

Sounds like a damn good idea!

On a full size truck, you can get three setups down each side, and three in the middle. The dogs hold the plywood down, and gives them better grip than just the truck bed.

Iv got a chain with 2snaps on the ends to snap into the tie downs you can put as many snaps in between as you need. Its easy and strong and you can take it on and off fast. If you don't have tie downs just mount 2 eyebolts in the bed I did that on my old ford.

I have a cable that is the same size as a cable lead that is bolted down behind my cab. I have not had any problems. I have clipped down 4 dogs at a time. The dogs can move to either side of the truck! i will see if I have a better picture somewhere. JT

I let my bulldog ride up top, and sometimes let the bay dogs stand on it to wind.....
The pics are from before i finished it, and I still plan on building a rack around the top that will keep the dogs from flying off I i hit a hard bump or something..

Here's the setup I used on my old hunting truck.  I ended up putting a couple of eye bolts with short chains and snaps on the rear corner of the bed to carry additional dogs. Also clipped a couple of water buckets to the inside of the dog box.

That right there is something like what I want to have eventually. Right now I have a Heritage two compartment box, but I eventually want one like that. I'd have to have a solid divider though, if I were ever gonna put one of the bulldogs in there. Or I could just put an eye bolt in the bed and hook one to that like others have mentioned. My Am Bull is pretty darn big.
