I have a redbone that is around five or six. That's a hard keeper. No matter how much I feed him he still looks bad. I use ivomek wormer. But don't know what the deal is. Any tips or advise? Thanks in advance.

Get him some pyrantel too, but let me ask what you have him on? I have one who has eaten 4 quarts of victor per day(16cups, yup you read that right) and still looked poor always. We eventually figured out that his body doesn't process the nutrition from the victor and tried him on cheapo diamond. He eats 1.5 qts per day now and I have to scale him back occasionally

I would change wormer and gradually change is feed. I use the valbazen with ivomectrin mixed in it and have had good luck with it. If that doesn't work might try him on a meat diet if you can afford it.

might want to change wormers, May have a type of worm that the wormer doesnt get. Just because you use "wormer" doesnt mean its gonna kill the worms you have. Feeding 4 lbs a day to a dog is more than enough to put weight on him. Something else is going on.

I have one that is that way, feed the crap out of her and skinny all the time, tried lower protein food, she put on weight better but didn't have the same energy level. I put her back on my regular food which is diamond and started top dressing hers with wheat germ oil, has worked real well for her. I don't think i could ever get her fat but she sure looks better. Just food for thought, really tough thing to guess @ from this side of the screen.

My old gal raises a few reg bullterrier pups to sale and she always feeds her momma dogs scrambled eggs to help them maintain weight why suckin several pups. They stay fit and fat and recover alot better. Used this on a collie that stayed busy all the time . After a good shot of wormer and about two weeks of scrambled eggs and his normal feed he came around pretty well. pretty cheap way to get extra protien But only thing is having to cook them all the time

You don't need to cook them. I give my dogs eggs shell and all once a week

Worm the heck out of him and go to TSC and get a gallon of Rice Bran Oil. I use 1/2cup over there food every day, you will see results.
