I saw this hog when I pulled into the gate, he was trotting down the road ahead of me. He was a good one, probably 250 and all wooly and nasty looking. I dumped LJ and Spud on him and they went across a half mile of open crop land on his tail. I kept hearing the boar snort and blow and the dogs barking, so I think they were pulling some hair as they went. He bayed in a brush pile another quarter mile farther and they bayed for a minute and he broke. LJ rolled with him and spud stayed "treed", so I knew he was bad hurt. LJ came back after a few hundred yd and was cut pretty good and was favoring two of his legs. For those that didn't know Spud, he was a stray Fiest turned hog dog. His only baypen competition he scored a 9.7. He weighed all of 30 or so lbs and thought he weighed 130. No boar was safe unless facing him or he would have a mouth full. He was a brush busting, busy little dog that never stopped moving. I wish I could post a pic of him but I cant from my crappy phone. He was a cool little dog that loved his job more than anything. He will be missed around here. RIP Spud!

Sorry for your loss...it's amazing the heart the smaller dogs have, they'll put 110% on the line everytime no matter their job. Revenge will come with time.

Thanks for the comments ya'll, he is the second dog I've lost in action in the past few months. I lost a good young gyp back in September. For a guy that doesn't like rough dogs I sure end up losing some.
