Go outside to hook up my stock trailer and head to my uncles house to get  some sows I had left in his pens feeding out to butcher em. Well I had left 5 fifty lb bags of sugar laying on the back of it I got from the haliburton guys at work. Looks like some bees are attempting to build a hive in the trailer guess all the sugar attracted em must be a couple thousand bees in it maybe more. Guess I'm gonna wait till dark and try to get em out. Anybody got any better ideas?

Ideas to get them out without exterminating them.

Are they bunched up all on top of one another, like in a ball or are they just swarming, hitting the sugar? If they are bunched up there is probably a queen in there that came from another hive and they will probably leave in a day or two once a hive location is established.

You could also park trailer in full sun if it's not already. Bees pick hive location with a lot of the decision based on temp. If they are building a hive in the trailer this could discourage them.

They are balled up pretty good and they going for the sugar trailer is in the shade so I'll try moving it in the sun. I'd like to have a hive close by it's on the corner of my property but I gotta have my trailer.  T-bob I'm not an overly educated man but give me some credit. However If you'd like to run the shop-vac, I'm in Woodville Texas.

If they are balled up then odds are good that you had a hive split near by and the new queen and her troops just haven't found a suitable spot yet. But I'd move the trailer anyway  Wink

Try keeping your peepers set on one and see if you can follow it. Wherever there leaving from The sugar is where the hive is gona be. Ifollowed one like that in the plant at work. Took me a couple tries but once i got it i found a massive hive they made at the top of a tower. Gladly nobody encountered them up there.

pull the trailer 70 and blow them out, maybe run it by the carwash and stir them up, then drive 70 again

They are swarming and looking for a new home.
There are plenty of videos on youtube showing how to "catch" a swarm.

A guy at work does it all the time.
He gets a 5 gallon bucket with a screwed top. He then puts a small cloth with some lemon grass oil on it.
They cant resist that and the  ball of bees will all pile into the bucket. He waits over night and the next day puts the top on the bucket and carries the hive and sets it up in a box or sell it to someone who is starting out in beekeeping.

supposedly they are not aggressive when swarming because they do not have a home to protect.

The u tube vids are pretty crazy, guys in shorts and short sleeves with zero protection. They also handle the bees pretty rough, and dont get stung!!!
