I have to say one thing then, im done with this particular thread (although it has been very entertaining)

This particular subject and this whole thread is a prime example of why the ANTI's are winning this battle. We, as sportsman, cannot unite together to form one voice. Hog hunters cannot even unite amongst theirselves. Not to mention that the hog hunters bad mouth the coon hunters, the coon hunters bad mouth the deer hunters, the quail hunters bad mouth the duck hunters....it goes on and on. We will never win this battle to keep our rights to hunt dogs without uniting together. that means everyone from the hog hunters all the way down to the guys that send their dogs down holes and then dig down to them. We are all in danger of losing it all. We are not winning the battle.

The antis have huge amounts of money and support. They, for the most part, operate as one voice.  At the rate we are going it wont be long. Every little victory for them is a huge step towards taking our rights. i am around these people all of the time, and I listen to their crazy ideas... its scary folks. so before you knock someone else's way of hunting think about what you are doing to the sport as a whole.

Just my two pennies

Cetchdawg,

In response to your question - Something about haveing a gun and light on their property they dont like?!!!
Some folks just dont see it as safe in housing development situation. I have also hunted state lands, parks, and golf courses with friends were firearms wasn't allowed.

The ranchers demanding that we use guns hated the idea of hogs being on their place and seen the guns as being more efficient for the numbers.
One of them told me he didn't want any recreational sport hunting on his property and that we were out there to do a job him! That guy was a little weird in my book!
He worked cows with dirt bikes and carried a Mac 10 in his truck for coyotes! lol.
He did let us catch and tie the big boars though but told us real quick that he would replace us if he wasn't getting the results he figured we should get.
No! I dont hunt for him anymore! lol.

This type of rude response and behavior will not be tolerated on ETHD.

Exactly... it's like the Federal Game Warden told some us a couple of months back "We are our own worst enemy." Some of these responses pretty much prove it.

I don't care if you tie hogs, stick hogs or shoot hogs... we're all hog hunters. As long as you are in the woods with your dogs, enjoying this sport... that's all that matters.

My first five years of hogdoging was bay and shoot. Only the last year or so I've been catching. If anyone thinks they can go out with just a gun and find and shoot hogs without dogs as well as they could with dogs they are mistaken in my opinion. You might walk right by a hog thats layed down and hid that you wouldn't get without dogs. When I first started posting alot of people would give me heck about not catching them and would go on about what I was missing out on. Well now that I've got a catch dog and got rid of my gun hunting dogs I don't go half as much cause I'm always waiting on somebody to get ready or meet somewhere or whatever. I used to go alone most of the time. Now I don't like to go alone cause I don't want to get in a situation with a monster boar by my self where is if I had my 4570 I would have just shot it. So I got to wait on somebody that will go with me now. Don't get me wrong I do like catching with bulldogs and will continue but I'm going back to bay and shoot this winter when I get my pups trained so I can go when I want and don't have to make plans with people. It may not be as macho but I like going by myself more I think. And it is exactly the same except your'e not running in there legging it.
