Some are great, some are good, and some ain't.

You'd have to ask the man himself what mix he used.

Some aren't worth your time, some are worth their weight in gold. Look up Larry Parker. There some folks on here who will give you his phone number and he's a real great guy to talk with.

From my limited experience I believe them to be " track for track" dogs meaning put a good one on track they will take the route the pig took and put you in hogs. I prefer a track cheating dog but that's a personal preference. I have a cur who hunts track for track and he put a lot of hogs in my truck this year, so search hi and low, and good luck! I hope you find what your after.

Thats his board. line is explained on there somewhere, but don't remeber where i read it at. Mr. Larry should be able to tell you if you have a full blood Parker or not, if you know where it came from.

Chances are if you didn't talk to Larry first, you could have got told something about a dog that isn't true.

He keeps a pretty good track of who buys and where his dogs go, so the best bet is talking with him and asking him about the dog.  Lots of people claim the name because it helps em sell.  Hope I'm wrong about your dog, but that's the way it is sometimes. You could always post a picture and show us anyway.

This is a gyp.

This is one of her daughters.  The pup looks like a typical Parker puppy.

I have a kemmer gyp about to drop some half parkers any day now...most should be black with brindle trim like most pure parkers...

according to what he told me and I probably don't have it 100% right...His original dog he hunted was a smaller black dog that was one of the best he ever had...he doesn't know exactly how he is bred but by the looks of that dog and how he hunted is a big hint as to what breeding he probably was...very posible he was a stephens cur or a faulkner cur...the stephens and faulkners are mtn cur but usually all black or with a small amount of white trim...the biggest difference in these 2 breeds is the faulkner is a little larger than the stephens...these dogs were used for hogs, coon, squirrel and bear...and these dogs are known to be excellent hunters...

he used blackie on 2 brindle females that were woods cow dogs that could go deep in the woods and bay cows...don't know the breeding on those females but I think Larry said mostly some old type catahoula with possibly some mtn cur...

but the best thing to do is get him on here and have him give the story again...I probably should of not said anything because I have slept a few times since I talked to Larry... Grin

but I do think enough of those dogs to put 1/2 to a quarter in the mtn cur...hope to get less noise on track...the male I bred to is pretty much a catch type strike dog but that is what I like. His sire is a good strike dog and his dam is one that will rip the gonads off of a big boar and the female kemmers are known for that and a kemmer male will go for the ear...so...I am hoping to get jump started with some good hog dogs from this litter...
