Today I have seen the coolest thing ever! My buddy had a litter of pups and today was the first time they ever seeing a hog. Well 2 turned on and causht HARD but one he had one dog the biggest in the litter that he thought may be blind well it is... But this lil dude showed such a drive to catch this hog in a pen he litteraly used his nose the would lisen then CAUGHT IT! I was blown away this lil due impressed the chit out of me. Which got me thinking has any one ever seen this or hunted blind dogs? I mean I was truly in aww all I wanted to do was watch him work. He never barked he just got better at finding the hog but I have to say it was a lil bit funny watching him walk in to a fence or fumble through a hole but non the less it was cool watching the drive of this hog. Any thoughts on what to do with this lil guy?

I wouldn't take him in the woods. He would more then likely get hurt. If you really like him you could keep em and use him to train puppies when he's older.

I have kept cat pups that were directional,or partial hearing and placed them with experienced dog handlers to use for blood trailing deer
and they worked out fine. However if buy 10 weeks and they are totally blind or deaf I would have them put down. My reason is this.
He's a pup now and can't hardly do no harm. When he gets older and someone walks up on him and startles him he will bite whoever out of
a defensive reflex. The probability is real high that this sort of thing will happen. As that pup gets just a little bit older he will start getting
frustrated at times and the owner will too. As far as being intelligent , you are right , their other senses are developing stronger to
compensate for their deafness or blindness. It's one thing to have a dog go blind or deaf in their later years but it's entirely different when their born that way. Hey, just something to think about. If someone decides to keep him it will be an uphill battle. Like I said, He's a pup
now but as he grows he and owner will get very frustrated. He will require a lot more attention and socializing than his litter mates. I have
only had a few deaf pups born on our place, I've never had any blind pups. Anything's possible so good luck with what ever you decide.

don't get me wrong , i admire the dogs want to , but he is a cull .
