I just recently bought an 11 month old ridgeback cur cross and she is showing a lot of potential... She's been on about 30-40 hogs and she struck her own a week ago but when she struck it was only about 50 yards or so away. She bays great (not real gritty) the only thing I want her to do is hunt out with the lead strike dog. She likes to stay at about 30 yards and sometimes trails behind me when she gets bored... Like I said she's only 11 months old and she is usually the first one to the bay and she's struck about 3 times on her own but the hogs were really close.... I just want her to hunt out a little further, any suggestions?

Time if she is doinmg good now she will get a lot better. Ridgebacks typically mature slower than curs.

It sounds like your walking.....if so stop for a while and let her get bored, pay no attention to her. But don't move on till she comes back the first few times. Sometimes they just need to know your alright with them moving out and you aren't gonna leave em.
