A good friend of mine purchased an older 13'6" fixed deck, 3 spindle rotary mower last year. He thinks is a Servis brand, but not certain. All I remember is the center gear box is HUGE and almost spherical.

Anyhow, while shredding some overgrown pasture, he trashed the center blade "bracket"

I am trying to help him locate the replacement part, or find original dimensions and have a machine shop make him one.

Any idea on the name of, and where to locate such an item?  I believe there used to be a pan/stump jumper in place, that has rusted out over the years.  All of them I can find are for a splined shaft, and we need a smooth bore with a keyway.

Why not just take that piece to the machine shop n let them build off the old 1. If they r much of a machinist, they cant build a new bar from the broke 1

I've got a few machine shops that I can get to machine the part, problem is they are all so backed up with oilfield work, that I would feel bad asking them to break in on this little job.

Additionally, the hole is distorted, so I don't have a way to get the original ID of the bore, and the shredder is 150 miles away, so I can't exactly go out and measure it either...   I'm really hoping that there is a "standard" size bore/keyway on these old shredders and someone can point me in the right direction of where to purchase on ready made.

If the bore hole is distorted, the shaft may be aswell. It would be better to build a new 1 to the shaft diameter. What is the diameter of bore on the 1s with the splines? U may can take into account the width of the crack and warpage of the old bar bore hole and see if 1 with the splines are similar. Boring the hole in a new bar is easy, its just getting keyway machined would b a pain. Is it a bush hog (not the brand name, but the type of mower) or an actualy shredder? Iv heard folks call a hog a shredder n heard a hog called a hog. Different stroke for different folks. Iv always known a shredder to be a mower used to cut hay, not mow thick brush

shredder is for tall grass, bush hog is for small trees and children.

Measure the shaft it goes on and give that info to them. They should be able to handle it.

Not to sound smart mouthed but have u tried googling that brand or vintage mower parts.? I'm thinking like the others that a machinist worth his salt could mic the dia. Close enough. The tolerance on mower parts is not extremely close. And the keyway isn't distorted.

This is on old bush hog style rotary mower. Like a batwing mower, but the deck is fixed and 13'6" across.

I know that a machinest could make me one, but as mentioned in a previous post, I'd like to find the factory setup. What's hard to see, is that there used to be a stump jumper/pan that has since rusted apart. If I can find an original part, it will have the stump jumper and it probably won't break again for many years.

The mower is over 100 miles away, so it will be a pita to get the measurements. If I can't find the part on the shelf somewhere, I'll go measure it and have one made.

Thanks for the feedback

Minor detail, it is over 100 miles away. Not to be smart but I would start googling pictures and look through them. That is how I have found a few olf things I could not identify. It is a pain. Keep changing your words and keep trying.

It is amazing how much a case of beer can do Grin When I used to drag race I had shops that I would just show up as they were closing with a case of beer.
