Well I have to say I have hunted hogs with dogs for a while and I have never hunted with bmc or as y'all call it a yellow dog. I hunt mostly by myself but hunt with other friends who have dogs and still no yellowdog. But after viewing this site for a few years it got me thinking I might be missing out

I used to be like you, all cat crosses with some hound in them and had all kinds of crosses. But after hunting with bmc's and got some good ones of my own they are hard to beat. Their work ethic and stamina outdid my cats. Lots of bottom and heart! Now i'll still buy any type of dog if its a hunter.

Have patience, put forth the effort into training, and watch the fruits of your labor stop squealing monsters in their tracks. No greater satisfaction than that.

I love my yellow dogs I've had a couple cats through the years they never seem to have as much range as my yellow dogs do nothing against a cat just prefer a ybmc

We run cats because the ones we have are close to med range. The few spots we have to hunt are solid swampland or marshland. All hunting is done out of boats . Once the dogs are cast we have to wear hip boots to get around. Long range dogs just wouldn't work for us. Are any BMC's close range or is most of them long range? I only hunted once behind a BMC and that dude covered some ground.

My yellows are med to long range I hunt the marsh a lot myself and it does make it hard tracking 700-800 yards threw saw grass cat tails and waist deep marsh mud that smells like a hog idk how my dogs even find hogs out in the marsh but they do it and do it well If you like your cats that's great it's just a preference in what you like to hint with and what others think

I had cats and cat crosses for a long time but like y'all say they were shorter range dogs. But if have seen some fine long range cats. My lead cat got stole and I sold everything on my yard bc I was just flat out sick about it and was just tired of it. I kept my bulldogs and one cat/bulldog cross just to have some of my blood. I started running just my bulldog by himself and still caught my fair share. Started to get more cats but the problem I have with them is so many people breed for color and eyes. I prefer the saddle back or plan Merle nothing fancy. I have had a campbell cur an have buddies that that all the hunt. Ended up getting me a full blood German shorthair pointer and he will role. He has hunt and bottom like I have never seen. I hunt him and a catchdog by my side and I love just having two dogs that will shutdown about anything. I also hunt a Campbell/pit/cur. I just breed her to my pit to get me some shorter range rough rough dogs. But most everyone I know that hunts hunts bird/ bullls campbells Florida curs cats and plot/pits. I just have never hunted with a ymbc and figured I may give it a try one day. But my campbell cross is yellow lol

I look at it kind of like this...you are comparing hog dogs and and cheap hamburgers when you talking about Cats and BMC. yeah they will work for a little bit....You dont know what you are missing until you get a bite of steak! The plott is the steak! Once you try one good one you wont settle for anything else. As a matter of fact, one steak is better than a hotdog and a hamburger.
