Every time I have one of our old dogs start doing something out of the ordinary, I pull blood on them and everytime we have found something wrong. Most of the time it's been a tick born diseas and one had swine brucelossis. By catching it quick, they got right over it. This is where it pays to know your dog.

I certainly would not put the dog back in the pen.  Could it possibly be the heat?  Even the toughest cant take too much heat.

Specially not with a big hog where she can't get away might just make her worse imo

Try this. Like bigO said, you know that dog, if it's out of the ordinary, start looking her over real good.

When you figure it out let us know. I got one started doing similar to what you talking about a while back. Sometimes he does what I know he can do and sometimes he will run them a half of mile or so.

If I had blood work done every time one of my dogs acted diffierent I would be more broke than I already am.  It seems to me most dogs might lose a few adjusting to the heat.  Everyone has an off day so why wouldn't a dog.  Just my .02.

Nobody catches them all but if I have a dog I've hunted two summers and he has allways tried hard, win or loose, and all of a sudden he goes a littel ways and quits two or three times, something is wrong. If one doen't try hard in the summer he won't be around for me to worry about. Thats why I said you've got to know your dog.

I agree with Bob.  It's bout hunting your dog hard and knowing it right down to the flea babies on it.  Start naming them suckers and you've done pretty good  Cheesy

It helps though, case in point with yourself Bob.  You have a great line of Cur dogs.  You've hunted them for so long and seen about everything you could imagine when it comes to this line, that you automatically know somethings wrong just based off past experiences from hunting with the parents, grand parents, and great grand parents of the dog.  It makes life easier when you come to know what to expect.

I will agree that knowing your dogs help...

But by the way I read this post, and I could be wrong, it sounds like this dog hasnt been on many runners...
She finds them and they stay bayed..

Maybe she doesnt have much bottom to her, or shes just not used to having to actually chase the hog once she finds them..  Huh?

U know that could be it t is there anyway way to get more bottom in a dog or is it. Just natrual she really hasn't had to chase many so that could be the problem its this same damn hog tho 3 times now and I can tell its aggrivating her anything I can work on with her ?

If this the case, stay after him, he'll slip up and she will be a better dog because of it.
