Lindsay and I went out east to go see my little sister chase some cans this weekend in Canton and bring a few horses back to a better pasture. We decided to go the day before so we could make a quick hunt on Saturday morning. Went to a ranch between Canton and Kaufman with my buddies Bryan and Wynne. We decided to just hood hunt to try and save the dogs legs and cover as much ground as we could. We had Lacy, Superman, and Mac (Wynne's BMC) on the hood, and it was a first time for Lacy and Mac to be hunted this way. No luck for about two hours and its getting hot so we decided to drop the dogs on the ground in a spot that they bed up a lot. Walk down to the wollers but they were dry so we loaded up and headed to another part of the ranch. When we get to the next area, Wynne and I are in the back of the truck and we throw Lacy and Mac over the cab onto the hood and they aint there for a half second before they peel the paint off that thing. We start to get superman out of the box when they open up about 150 yards away. We dump the box, Floyd, Superman, and Ruby go join the bay. Pull Deuce off the box and walk him up to about sixty yards and send him to them, caught hog. He was a stout sucker and man he had some teeth. DONT FORGET YOUR TDHA FUNDRAISER RAFFLE TICKETS! 817-694-5501 or PM me! Start of the morning, a nice fog in the lower pasture Mac, Superman, and Lacy on the hood Caught hog, and Brian walking that down tree like a cat haha! Deuce on an ear, floyd on a jaw, and ruby on a leg. Lindsay and her pretty new rubber boots, I usually am the one forgetting things but this time she forgot her hunting boots haha

Good hog. How'd the dogs take to hood hunting since it was their first time hunting thataway? Mine would look at me like I'm an idiot if I threw em on the hood

They did alright, I haven't really seen any hood dogs work myself, but my lacy dog bailed off by herself a couple times while we were moving, and thats what they are supposed to do I guess except she just bailed off the go hunt, not when she was winding. She is used to riding in unusual spots. She hates being in a box (she's real small and gets smashed around by other dogs) and a lot of time I kick her out first by herself, so I won't put her in the box and she will get on top of it or ride on the tool box. She deffinetly like the hood better when it was only her and one other dog. When there was three up there she felt a little crowded I think and tried to ride on the cab. We were creeping along when her and mac bailed off and struck though, so they got the job done.

Haha, I really enjoyed it. It sure is nice in the heat. I was really surprised that Lacy bailed off while we were driving without seeing another dog do it, I think the first time was just because she was excited to be hunting. I been leaving her at the house lately.
