I had 2 that were hog crazy from day 1, when i first brought em to the woods i would let em ride then turn em loose 100 r so yds from the bay, they hated a hog and had absolutely no quit.
Another thing that helped em alot was walk hunting them, by 7mths mine were both on the gtound running and 1 had found 3 hogs solo by 7mths old.

No problem. My cousin that lives in ms bought a phesant vest and would put em in that when they went huntin lol, they walk hunt ALOT so it made it easy to carry them until they could handle bein on the ground the entire hunt, just a thought.

if you dont want them to be rough you will need to start them on a hog they cant catch. we have had a few and learned to start them on big boars that will make them bay if you start them on smaller hogs they will be like little bulldogs with a short life.

Yeah man that's a good tip because I started them on a little pig and they went right to town putting teethe on the pig the first day ever seeing one.
The best is a good idea my buddy hunts with me is all about big dogs he been knocking them since I got them. Then he seen them yesterday and was like I didn't expect that. To be honest neither did I I heard story's so I decided to give them a shot and the story's are true they ate rough. I definetly need to put them on a bigger pig. I can see why they don't live long.
Thanks guys

Well I hope they work out. From what I hear they hunt ther butt off so I hope they pick up quick!! I don't care about size I like a dog that's gonna work big or small they seem pretty smart too they pick fast!
My buddy is slowly changing his mind about them the more he sees them work.

I have 6 of the little Nazi dirt piranhas on my yard now. We started by using one as a check dog. And it's grown from there. I've had some success using an e collar to keep them from catching but they still bay close and can cause the bay to break. They are normally the pits to trash break. They were bred up to be versatile terriers for German hunters where they use them for flushing, retrieving, and ground work. The ground work is where the trashing comes in. They think nothing of digging down and chewing the tail off of an armadillo. LOL. To get the Grand Champion in Germany they have to kill a badger and drag it out of the hole.!! Gritty gritty little dogs with tons of heart. I've got a direct import that wouldnt get away from me in the woods so I've got him retrieving. In short take the advise of the previous post and send them in on a solid bay from increasing distances. As far as tracking I use my 220 to locate the hog track ( based on other dog track) where they cross a road or levee. Dump em out and watch em work. Post some pics if u got em.

1 more word of advice, i dont know if you use kennels or chain or if you have 2 of the same sex or not but I DID!!!(males) If you never listen to me again please listen now, it will save you alotta cash/heartache......sldo NOT leave them in the same kennel or where they can reach each other, when mine dropped their cahones' if was flat out war, im talkin serious money at the vet war.....them little devils liked to have killed each other......in the woods they were fine together but at the house it was a straight up caged deathmatch!

Good advise Justin! I just had the bottom lip sewn back on one of my gyps where she stuck it thru the fence at the other one. I love those little dogs but man you have to be geared for keeping terriers or they will drive you nuts LOL

I will have to agree 100% with Justin. My two are litter sisters. I can't keep them together at all. They will plain throw down. It was actually a blessing though. The smaller of the two was a lot more reserved and shy when I got them. Now that they have been separated for awhile, I think she is doing better than the other female that turned on first. Mine don't care at all when they are out and about, it's just in the kennel, and just a little in the box. Definitely take Justin's advice on this one. Save you a lot of time and money.

Mine were throwing down when got here at 8 weeks. Separated them, and no problems. I got a video of my buddies little gyp, I think she is 9 weeks, and latching on. She ain't no bigger than a chihuahua! it pretty funny. You get yours in LA?
