I have two BMC pups almost 4 months old right now.   The problem I am having wth them right now is constantly barking.  They have food and water, I spend a good amount of time with them but they are constantly barking.  I dont want to get to hard on them cause I feel I have probably ruined a few dogs because of a heavy hand so I am being patient with these little guys.  Any suggestions besides a bark collar on how to break them out of it or how to lessen the barking?

I bought a red rider bb gun and 5000 bb's for under 40$ new........i dont even have to cock it anymore, they learn real quick what that shakey sound is when you pick it up, it works, i promise lol........i wont pop one of my young puppies though they will learn with a bit more age i would imagine......once they are old enough to be on a chain they are fair game though lol.

Yeah I do the bb gun thing to the older ones, once they hear the rattle they shut up real quick.  Dont want to go that route on these pups right now.  I like the sprinkler idea, gonna give that one a try.

Yup, the hose outta do the trick, id try to find one with a good pressure nozzle so when u spray em it annoys em, if u just hit em with a light shower type head they may not get the point, hell the little devils may enjoy it in this heat lol

i had the same problem, and problem solved.... bought the anti-barking collar at walmart for around $35, best $$$ spent in a looong time. I put the collar on him for a week or two. now he only barks if he should - stranger etc...  i had to put it back on him once or twice to remind him, but now all i have to do is tell him to hush up.

Another angle with the bb gun if you dont want to pop em everytime is to get a piece of tin and lean it next to the kennel.
When they go to howling shoot that tin and it will usually send em in the houses. If not go back to wearing them lil butts out with it and then go back to tin.

the bb gun works most of the time , but at my house it got so bad that one dog would run in his house when the door opened . Smiley we're always busy with kids around here and i can't be as consistent as i need to be , so one night he decided he was in the mood to bark - and i had gotten out of bed several times only for him to hear me get up , run in his house and act like he was asleep . about 3 oclock i went out with nothing but my underwear, boots , and a belt .

i wasn't wearing the belt  . i've had very little problem with him since  Grin Grin

Yep, 1/2 the time i dont even shoot at them, i shoot at one of their plastic barrels and they all get the idea.
