Very interested in a dogo, female preferably. I am also open to any info about them you may have from experience. I do not see a ton of them for sale, but may not have been looking in the right place. Im new to "internet hunting" so this may open some new doors. If you know of some dogos availale, Im moslty looking for something ready start, or already started. Not really looking for puppies as I am already raising Jagds. Thanks for any help

a good dogo is hard to come by ..... might be 1 outta 100 that make a good hunting , catch , or rcd so be careful when you see them up for sale , they might just be trying to pawn it off ?   best thing is to watch it catch in a pen or a hunt .  and dont be fooled by these crazy high prices , you can get a $50 dog that can catch just as good !  im sorry to sound like a debbie downer just stating some of the mistakes ive made .

Where do you get your info ? How many dogo breeders you know ? I would not say this statement is accurate ...

This is the kind of feedback I'm looking for. Thanks.  Haven't ever huinted them or with them, are they mostly lead in type dogs? I was under the impression you could run them on the ground all day/night

i use mine mostly for rcd but also lead in . yes they do have good stamina , i keep mine on the ground with the curs and he seems to keep up most of the time , might have to rest him on fourwheeler for a little while then hes back on the ground .  good dogs if you can find the right one !   good luck

I think he is talking about grown ones that will hunt. People don't want to get rid of a GOOD bitch because they are the real producers and they can go out and just pay someone a stud fee and have a whole litter. When it comes to pups or unstarted/barely started dogs, doesn't matter male or female.

I would go as far as to say a good hunting dogo, male or female, is going to be hard to find "for sale". If it truly is good, it won't be up for sale. If it is up for sale, it probably isn't very good. Too much money in the breed for people to get rid of the good ones and the market is just not there, yet, for high dollar cd. I think it will eventually get there if people start hunting them like cur dogs and there are consistently ones that will find and catch their own hogs regularly. But right now, most people use them as lead in catch dogs. They pay $1000 for a pup, then they use the dog just like its a pit. Not knocking this at all, I use mine as lead in sometimes as well. But it just devalues them as far as a finished dog price if someone ever decided they did want to sell them, as a finished catch dog is a few hundred dollars.

I personally try and hunt mine on the ground as much as possible, and will a lot more when it cools down. Partially  because this is what they were bred to do, and then also for my own selfish reasons, I hate leading dogs haha. If Im gonna consistently lead a dog, Im going to get a terrier that I can stick in a backpack or something.

If I were going to try and get a good started dogo, and had the money to do it, I would find a hunter that breeds their dogs, not a breeder, and make him/her an offer on a dog off their yard. Everything has a price, it may be high, but it will have a price, even if its "not for sale".

If you plan on running your dogo on the ground, you need to make sure the dog and yourself are in top shape. The dog better be in good enough shape to hold for a good while by themselves (if your not running more than one), and you better be in shape so you can book it to them when that garmin says treed and they are 900 yards away. They get cut and hurt just like any other breed of dog.

Good luck in your search!
