Just need a place to rant to friends I know aren't gonna tell me "It'll be ok. It'll all work out." I'm sick of hearing all that.

Life pretty much sucks right now and I need to rant rave and cry.

Maurice and I have been trying to have a baby for about 1.5 yrs now. To say the least, after several rounds of fertility treatments my body needs a break. So Maurice bought me a NRHA futurity filly that I have spent 20 yrs dreaming about. Well at 2 yrs old, a little more than a month away from going to the trainer's, her show career ended before it even began. She attempted to cut her left eyelid off, and put a 4" gash in her neck. Both my trainer and my vet say she'll be fine, but she is going to be too scarred up to show.

That's two things that have chopped me off at the knees. I'm just waiting on the 3rd one right now. So sick of it all.

Thanks for letting me get it all out guys.

It's been a few years since I showed a reigning horse but I don't recall being docked for a scar. My mom won the world on a half tail app horse in the 80s. I sympathize with you completely but would the main cover the scar anyway?

I could retrain her mane to cover the neck scar, but that's not the issue. It's the eye. Trainer said that it would/will be considered to major a physical fault. She pretty much has no top eyelid on her left eye.

I'm sorry to hear that about the eye. On the other hand she wouldn't be the only horse in the ring with a physical/ conformation fault. It's not genetic. A genetic fault would certainly get u docked. You mentioned the futurity. I say let the trainer see if she has the goods for reigning work. If so then show her to the best of her and your ability. U just never know! If nothing else she will have character. Some big shot may come offer u a small fortune for her.

meg my best advice is to understand that the lord has a plan for you. had the same plan since the day you were born. that 1.5 years yall are tryin is not your time yet. it will come believe me, just get the right time and place.

now the horse, i would show her none the less. if they dock cause of an accident then they need to replace the judge not the horse Wink Grin

ive gotta say tho, im strugglin to make ends meet here too. im up at 7am only to get to bed at 1 am. 5 days a week and both jobs are very physically demanding. not a complaint but with the way things are i cant spend time with my family and mentally cant stand that.

keep your head up honey and keep plowin ahead.

I showed NRHA reiners for many years. Zero problem with the eye, if the trainer is telling you that story, there is another reason he doe not want to train the horse.

Lots of orphans and abused children need good homes. My wife and I adopted two older children after having two biological children. You seem like a good God fearing person, spend some time praying about things.

Can you recommend a trainer that doesn't cost 1500 a month then?

I won't tell you everything will be ok. Life sucks and that is the way it is. You can lay down and die or you can come up fighting. You should know that I understand and I am not saying you are doing anything wrong. Sometimes you have to scream and throw things. Things everyone should know. Life is not fair. If you work hard you will be tired. You might get paid but it won't be enough. Today will be a hard day and if you expect anything less you are not prepared.

When you are done with your venting remember you have a horse you can breed and have a new pony. There are no problems just opportunities to overcome an obstacle. When you don't have anything then you have everthing to gain. So scream, yell, and throw things. But then suck it up and move on.

Meagan,....I wish to share something with you that changed my life. It addresses something that I've struggled with my entire life,.....kmowing when to 'let go of the sterring wheel' and let God take over the driving. I found this poem in the most out of the way place...that when I read it my knees gave way and I sat flat down in the floor...it was that obvious that God had hit me in the head with a brick once again to get my attention.....I now want to share it with you in hopes that it will give you some peace and hopefully change your life as well.

                                                             "Let Go and Let God"

As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God because He was my friend.
But instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone,
I stayed around and tried to help with ways that were my own.
Al last I snatched them back and cried..."How could you be so slow?"
"What could I do my child?' He said,......."You never did let go."

At this point in time Maurice isn't open to the idea of adoption.  He has his heart set on our own first. I think it's a man thing. I dunno.

As far as the mare, I made a few phone calls, and dropped a few names this morning. It's looking like the filly will be going to Dell Hendricks or Tom McCutcheon in October. Just gotta decide which one. Talked to both of them and neither seemed worried about the eye. Eventually I plan on finding a equine plastic surgeon and having it fixed as well as possible.

I ain't giving up. Just needed to vent and it's hard to vent to Maurice because he takes it so personal when things aren't going right. He wants to stop the world for me, so when something is going wrong it tears him apart and he doesn't need that while he is at work.

Meg,  sorry ya'll having a tough go of it. Sometimes the best thing, as far as gettin pregnant, is forget about it, and you two just enjoy yourselves and the freedom ya'll  have at this moment in ya'lls life. Travel, have fun, and i swear, all my friends who were in your situation, came up pregnant  following that plan. Also, as crazy as it sounds, i have a few friends, same situation, got the adoption process in motion, annd i swear again! Before their new adopted baby arrived, they found out they were pregnant.  And i second Neal's advice, leave it all at the foot of the CROSS, God willmtend to it for you. I'll keep u and Maurice in my prayers. Ya'll sure seem like a good couple, and good things will come your way,, just watch.

Your husband wants to fix things. We don't like you that much Grin If you want some kids I can bring mine over for a while and at least tie you over for a while. Kids are a blessing and a pain at the same time. I won't short change the desire to have kids. The Lord gave us that desire and it is as natural as wanting to eat. I prayed for you to have a child but sometimes God does say no for reasons unknown. I will talk smack about almost everything but not you not having a child. Please know that in my earlier post I was wanting to be in any disrespectful of your desire to have a child. I may give you a hard time about the horse but not a kid. I will keep praying for you. My sister had problems and when she stopped all the medical help she got pregnant and now has two obnoxious kids

Never thought that you were being disrespectful at all dude. You know I know better than that. HUGZ

It depends on what event your doing. If she was a halter horse it would be the kiss of death because that's all about looks. As far as a reiner goes, some trainers wouldn't wanna jack with it cuz she ain't as pretty now, others it doesn't bother as long as she can still see, which she can.

Not making light of it cause I know you are/were upset but looking at the pics I'd say in a year you wouldn't even notice that if it heals right. That eye is nasty.

May be a dumb question, but can you not just sow it up? Spray some vetricin on it and stitch it up?  I'm just wondering how the hell she did that in the first place... Sorry that you are so stressed... Those kind of times is when I ask myself, what can you do about something you can't do anything about? Not a lot, but sit back, or get ur knees dirty and pray... Give, and let God... Good luck.
