Ok so my #1 and #2 dogs both have this problem. Yesterday as I was making my rounds scratchin ears and rubbin on the dogs both of my males yelped when I started scratchin their ears......im thinkin ear mites....no biggy ill run to the store buy the treatment and be good to go........today i go give em one more look to make sure im not missing anything......BOY was I......both of them have ticks in their ears that are....well....full as a tick!
Other than pullin em with tweezers and cleanin their ears out is there anything else I can do to help em out???

I just pull and crush them. I am about to start injecting Ivomec because I hear it kills fleas and ticks. I will find out.

SPRAY PERMETHRIN ON EM
They get dipped in it once a month, do you mean to pour it in their ears? ?? "the sun is shining somewhere in texas" -Jason Boland

i wouldnt pour it in their ears. I use happy jacks every few months and seems to keep the mites, ticks and fleas outta their ears.

I use a tick key for some of them but if it's those big grey cow ticks on the ear I just mash em and let em hang. They will falloff in a day or so.

I just pulled em with tweezers and sprayed their inner ears with veterycin and they got immediate relief, i could tough their ears afterwards without any yelpin or pullin away. Gonna buy some happy jack in the mornin to prevent future problems

Man I've been using happy jack ear drops on Bo because he had some ear mites and used the dip on the whole yard. That stuff works wonders!

I gave them all a once over the other day because I had one latch onto me the night I got back. I checked them all the next day and nothing.

I keep a spray bottle with permethrian mixed up. I give them a misting including their ears every day or two until ticks are all dead. Then as needed.

Ivermectin does nothing to prevent Ticks and fleas. I am with you on the pull and crush thing. maybe some neosporin on the spots i pull them off, but not always.

I use medicated cow tags to keep the ticks off. I just tie strap them to their collar. I was hunting at a place that was full of ticks and after using these my dogs never have ticks. The tags do nothing for fleas though

I'm just not big on putting any strong chemical in my dogs ears,.....just don't like the idea at all.....I just check my dogs every day when I feed 'em. Doesn't take but a second and if they have a tick it won't be latched on hard and fast.

Make your own ear medicine. Mix equal parts vinegar, alcohol and peroxide with about 5ccs of Ivermectin per 100ccs of mixture. For ear infections use the same mixture without the Ivermectin daily 'till infection is gone. My Vet and I use this on ourselves and it works great.
