Yesterday I learned that my science teacher through high school for two years, his 21 year old daughter was killed in a car wreck.  I didnt know her personally I just met her once or twice I reckon through school events, I mean I graduated in a class of 13, so we had our teachers through all of high school and you become close. She played volleyball at Hardin Simmons and was driving from Abilene to Ft. Worth.  The reminder is this, and I am one of the worst about it....  She was texting my old teacher and ran into the back of a parked truck.  I cant imagine the pain and heartache of losing a child, especially knowing it was me who was texting and caused the crash.  Just say a prayer and thank the Lord for everyday, you never know when it may be your last.  Pray for the Rogers family.  RIP Jessica.  Just pay attention when you drive, I'm going to try and do better myself.

I agree. I was bad about it at times. For a month or so now I've vowed to take the " Oprah Oath".  My mom and girlfriend recommended it.

Excellent point you are making.  Texting while doing anything is difficult.

When driving, I pull over and stop to text  ...  send or receive.

When cycling, I pull over and stop to text.  Otherwise you will face plant and that ain't good.

When running, I do text.  But I slow down a lot.  Even then, it is hard to do.

My wifes tells me not to text and drive but she texts me when she knows I am driving and gets mad because I don't reply fast enough. I do not even look at a text when I am driving. If it needs a fast answer call me. I will return a text when I get the time. I don't even always answer my phone

Funny story about phones and driving.
Bought my wife the car she wanted. I was going to drive it down to her mothers house to pick her up. Decided to take the back road and stretch out the little red car. My phone rings and I drop it trying to answer when I slumped down to get it off the floor I ran off the shoulder and down the ditch I went. When I finally said hello on the phone it was my wife telling me not to take the back road cause she was scared I'd wreck her new car. LOL if she hadnt called to tell me that I wouldn't have wrecked.
