Anyone else heading elk hunting for the archery opener? I'm at work till the 21st then it's straight to Colorado.

Got a buddy that will be in the mountains close to Meeker on opening morning. He hauls in a few days before to acclimate the ponies.

Yea we'll have the mules in on Tuesday to give em a few days. Lots of elk around meeker.

Nice bull. Especially for meeker area. Lots of elk there but not known for big elk. Don't have any pics on my phone of the ones we've killed. Hopefully I'll have some new pics in a few days

I hunt meeker also, third season rifle deer and elk private and public land. Some monster muleys then but chances on big elk are slim.

Yea I have had some huge mule deer within bow range between gunnison and meeker. Saw 4 bucks standing in a field outside Craig a month ago and I think 3 of em would make Boone and Crockett. Were gonna be down around unit 76 this year try and get on some good bulls
