Dog if they dont eat all there food cover it up with dirt? My mt cur does this if she doesnt finish her bowl then she'll eat the rest as she pleases. Just wonder if this happens to anyone else and maybe know why

Mine now are in pens, so they dont have that option.  But had a Rot when i was lil, and when we would throw her scraps....after she got full she would walk off to the back yard with it and then come back to the front door waiting on more.  I got curious to what she was doin, and watched out the back window (cuz if you were outside watching her she wouldnt do it).  But, if she thought nobody was watchin, she'd go burry it in the back yard.  I remember getting a big kick out of it, cuz thats what them cartoon dogs did with their bones Cheesy

yes i have severall dogs that do this if they don't finish their foog or if i give them a bone . it's just still genetically wired in them from the days of being wolves . most all them little ankle biters will hide bisquites behind the sofa cushions lol

Haha damn ankle biters.. As I was posting that I was watching her do it.. Damnest thing I think.. She ate some then dug up alittle around her bowl and covered it up.. Ive known thats what she does but never watched her before

I was joking, their your dogs. Feed them how much you like. I keep mine on the lean side so they clean up all their feed.

yeah mine usually clean up there food and i adjust their feed for it . but some pups and dogs i am wanting to breed i give em all they want . and they will throw that sand all in their bowl for a late night snack  lol

my one gyp does it too but she is really lean and i feed free choice and she will cover it up but she only eatd about a 1/2 a cup aa day

a friend said his dog did it and he googled it and it said the feed was to high or rich in protien or he didnt like the type of dog food and he change to a lower percentage and he stopped doing it

Thats just like mine.. I think shes on the lean side but she'll only eat however she pleases

now i relized this i give her just alittle more than she normally eats and doesnt cover it up as much just every now and again but she is built leaner
