next stage in training

Ive got some puppies that were born on easter and this is the first time I've ever trained any hunting dog, I grew up hog hunting but as of January this is the first year I've ever had and trained my own dogs, I was very fortunate to happen upon a great deal on 4 dogs that 3 out of the 4 were jam up strike dogs and the fourth well he was a cull but one of the gyps I got had puppies out of another jam up strike dog n Ive been letting these puppies bay my goats since they were six weeks then I got some piglets and theve been baying them since 7 weeks old and now they bay the 50 lb pig I have that I let out into 3 acres fenced off for hours as long as she don't lay down they will bay her till you carry them off.  So my question is what do I do next?  They are 1/4 cat 1/4 bmc and half plot they are tough the 50lber will run them over and they just bounce right back never a wimper never back down but where do I go from this point?

mock hunts

The place I had that I was doing mock hunts on I cant go to anymore different owner n if I haul pig in woods on four Wheeler n tie it off too tree will that work the other place I used to put pig n harness n make it walk behind four wheeler through Woods for bout 600 yds then tie it up but cant really do this at the new place.  How do you do mock hunts?

im new to this sport so im learning something more and more everyday just by asking these veterans and watching what they do and what has worked for them .  that being said , my advice is not golden but what ive been doin works for me .  my small pups i start out on drags (pig hide) getting further and further each time . i rub the hide all over my boots so it masks my smell . when they get good at the drag game then i put them in a pen with small pig and let them go at it for couple min then take them out while they are still barking and then kennel them up .i do this for about a week . then i replace the hide with the small pig and pull him out to about 100 yrds and tie to tree and turn out the pups , getting further and further with the pig everytime . bigger the pups get , the biggger the pig i use .  i try not to use the fourwheeler when i drag the pig to the woods , too many smells just my preference .  i didnt touch on every little detail but thats it in a nutshell .  if you dont have access to woods , even a field with high grass would do .

sounds like you have the makings of some good hog dogs...  for me the most important thing would be to find out who are the leaders/naturals...one or 2 mock hunts and the pups will have it...next take them to the woods and find out who rolls out and hunts...

Just let them bay at anything and everything they want to. Sounds like they are doing perfect. The next thing i would do would be to cross tie that hogs legs and turn him him loose or tie him to tree in woods. And let pups hunt for him that will get them to hunting. Other than that i wouldnt do anything else untill they get bigger.
