Have to disagree. I have two feral females about a year and a half old and three half hamp half feral four month old shoats that are plenty plump. I feed the hog feed and 12%(mixed 50/50) from TSC and any and every table scrap and anything that expires in the cabinet or fridge.

My agri teacher told us that some would give their show hog a coke. To make it look muscular. Some hormones they have. But it ls temporary.

If you take the cost of feed to how much weight it gains it well never add up

I feed mine allstock, some corn every couple weeks and all the scraps that accumulate. I agree though the first couple months they loose a good bit of weight. Just keep feeding and they will gain it back but you won't every get them to.gain like a domestic. Majority of the weight they will put on will be straight fat no meat at all. I worked at a slaughter house and have peeled out more than I care to remember and every wild hog that was feed out and looked decent had a layer of fat 3-5 in thick and very little meat. Domestics gain more muscle weight and actually do good wild never did.

I agree with worm her first. Then go to the dollar store and buy some cheap cake mix and or cheap pancake syrup and mix a little in with her feed. Thats how we always got our show hogs to eat more.
