Dogo vs AB

I have seen some pretty big dogo dogs but I was wondering if an average sized dogo is any bigger than an averaged size american bulldog? I have seen very big dogs from both breeds but on average which breed is larger?

The American Bulldog is heavier on average.

My male dogos are around 115-125 in shape. When I say in shape I mean a tad bit on the lean side.
My female dogos are from 95-110 in shape.

They're bigger than most of my buddies bulldogs but I don't have enough experience with bulldogs to say which is bigger

Well maybe I'm wrong! The Dogo's I'VE seen have been lighter on average than ABD'S.

Depends on if it is a johnson or scott type ab. Johnson will weigh more where a scott will weigh less on avg.

Well maybe I'm wrong! The Dogo's I'VE seen have been lighter on average than ABD'S.

When I punch Dogo's Argentine into yahoo search Wikidpedia has them listed at a heavier weight than most other sights. It seems to me on average the Dogo's is about the same as the Johnson line of AB's.

Bingo....depends on the strain/family of dogs. Generally speaking, the Johnson/Bully dogs can't make the cut in the woods. Not that they can't/won't catch a hog...just not a woods dog.

My buddy has a AB one of the best catch dogs I've ever hunted behind hog broke one day she ran two miles and stayed caught in a creek for at least an hour she is the taller leaner type bigger than any dogos I've seen and I have some friends that raise them

I have one ab in the back yard that has some endurance to her, when I am not hunting we road them through the river bottoms of the rio grande or along the ranch roads and she can keep up with the hounds for a lot longer than I originally thought. She moves real well, so I would say she hunts similar to a dogo, I also have a few friends around me that have some American bulldogs also and they very to the capabilities of ginger to a sole lead in type dog.

Yeah I would definately take a Dogo over a johnson bred AB... At least the Dogo has enough stamina to make it to the bay, and still bay when it gets there!!!

Now when talking cathch dogs is like talking Corvette, Mustang, and Viper. There are different models and stuff. I have a big Dogo and what I would call a small Dogo. My big one I don't know how much he weighs because I can't hold him without tipping the scale. But size does not mean it catches any better. Like the cars all being fast. They all catch, there are some lemons. But it really comes down to what you like. Really it came down to AB or Dogo for me. I like the Dogo's personality more. But not that much more. So do you want a red Corvette or a blue Mustang. They can both be made fast.

My opinion is the Dogo has more stamina. We have hunted all night with the Dogos on the ground and never let the ride. I have just never seen someone hunt an AB that way. Maybe they can do it too? APBT, AB, or Dogo to me is just opinion and what someone likes more. Me I will hunt with all of them.

Never put my hands on a Dogo, but my standard bred AB (in my avatar) has great endurance. That sucker can work long and hard. Depends on the dog I feel.
