i have had a lot of dogs over the years but never had any prolapse during heat cycle.

is this a hereditary deal or just a run of bad luck.

I have saw a couple Bmc females do that. I think it's hereditary, because it's the same line of dogs that it has happened to.

i have a family of curs that ive been line breeding and the third breeding half the females did prolaps i think that it is from breeding. we have carver pits that are very close bread and they are the same way about half.

I've seen a couple strains of line bred dogs that were bad about it.

Yes it runs in lines of familys.  It will show up a lot of times if you are heavy breeding a family of dogs if it is in their genes.  Usally want show up unless some kind of family breeding is going on ,  it can show up any time but most the time thats not the case.

the last one to do it on my yard.i took her to the vet told him i didnt want her spayd he told me to use vasoline to keep her prolaps area moist and after she came out of heat she would be fine. and when i had her bread the same thing until out of heat. he said that he would consider taking the pups instead of letting her have them naturally. ended up spaying her she never hunted the same again.i have her sister bread and sofar we have had no problems.got my fingers crossed would really hate too lose her she is a fine dog. they can also stitch the prolaps back into place if it doesnt go back into place after the heat cycle.
