What Is a started strike dog I'm not singling anyone out in particular I see people's post all the time strike dog sometimes finds hog lol what is the difference strike dog bay dog in my opinion they better all strike a hog there ain't no such thing as a help dog to me that's just a chit dog I mean it ain't sitting in my yard eating and not finding its own pigs that's a cull in my opinion unless it's a young pup etc what y'all think and by the way happy labor day to all of y'all eat something good for me

A started strike dog is typically a young dog that's learning the ropes I agree with you on every dog should do it on their own but every dog has to start somewhere I have yet seen a dog start out as good as a finished dog on its first few hunts ( normally it's first yr of hunting but that would do with the genetics an exposure to the woods to determine its acceleration of the qualities you are seeking in a dog ) jmo

Wouldn't that just be a started dog why put try to use a glorified name on the dog when it ain't earned it it's just a started hog dog lol

It's just the lingo how folks call it more or less .... Example some ppl will say a started dog is one that has seen a dog in a pen one time ... Others will say started if the dog is in the woods just honoring other dogs bay... Or if they are starting to strike hogs on their own they will call it a started strike dog

I only have 5 dogs 3 strike one catch
and one help dog. You can't always count out a good help dog. My help dog is one gritty daddy didn't marry mommy and he's one of the toughest dogs I've seen. He's only a year and a half and has gotten cut up then a lot of catch dogs. He's stopped lots of running hogs for me and he's an important dog in my pack.
