We've all been in New Zealand on vacation (its beautiful you'll love it).  I went for a quick hunt saturday afternoon the dogs were, soft, fat and unfit (just like me) we did manage this boar though.

Thanks for all the comments - yep I agree the kid is better looking than the dog, he's mine.... Grin

The dog is one of our "drift" pups, hes not 11 months old yet.  He's finding hogs like a heat seeking missile he just needs a bit more baying practice.  He consistently outfinds my (and my mates) main dogs.  He is the only baydog I have in work at the moment.  He's seen 80-90 ish hogs and should only get better with work.

Great picture. Nice looking dog and his owner seems to be so proud of him.

Nice, fat, spotted boar. Most of the ones we catch are black. Every now and then we catch a spotted or red one. Are the spotted ones common where you hunt?

Colour varies a lot around here...some areas they are mainly black but often have white feet or a white blaze...other areas e.g. north western Qld I have caught 10-15 spotted pigs in a row.  Other areas red pigs are common, where you get red also tend to get pure white pigs.  Interestingly there was a saddleback sow running with this boar..I'd say saddlebacks are the rarest colour here and probably point to some domestic blood not too far up the family tree...

cheers
