We've all been in New Zealand on vacation (its beautiful you'll love it). I went for a quick hunt saturday afternoon the dogs were, soft, fat and unfit (just like me) we did manage this boar though. cheers Troy

Thanks for all the comments - yep I agree the kid is better looking than the dog, he's mine.... The dog is one of our "drift" pups, hes not 11 months old yet. He's finding hogs like a heat seeking missile he just needs a bit more baying practice. He consistently outfinds my (and my mates) main dogs. He is the only baydog I have in work at the moment. He's seen 80-90 ish hogs and should only get better with work. Troy

Nice, fat, spotted boar. Most of the ones we catch are black. Every now and then we catch a spotted or red one. Are the spotted ones common where you hunt?

Colour varies a lot around here...some areas they are mainly black but often have white feet or a white blaze...other areas e.g. north western Qld I have caught 10-15 spotted pigs in a row. Other areas red pigs are common, where you get red also tend to get pure white pigs. Interestingly there was a saddleback sow running with this boar..I'd say saddlebacks are the rarest colour here and probably point to some domestic blood not too far up the family tree...
