Howdy,

Before I give you some background, let me get straight to the point. I’m hoping by posting that I’ll be able to get back to actually doing my favorite hobby ever as opposed to just reading about it on the internet. I don’t have any hunting dogs to bring to the table, but I’m young and fit, and am very familiar with dragging hogs through the woods. I also know that feeding a pack of dogs isn’t cheap, and it takes a lot of gas to haul those pups around so I’m willing to pitch in there too.

During the week I’m willing to travel around north Texas, and on the weekends further. My Dad lives in Fayetteville, TX outside of La Grange so I have a place to stay there if I need it. If anyone’s willing to let me tag along please let me know. I’d greatly appreciate it. You can contact me on this forum, email me at msula87@gmail.com, or call/text me at 214-499-0339.

I’ve always loved dogs, particularly working dogs, but my family wouldn’t allow them growing up so instead I would read books, magazines, and the internet and watch documentaries and youtube videos. Around 2006-2007, I stumbled upon hog doggin’ on the internet and was instantly enthralled. For me and I’m sure for most of you this wonderful sport has it all. I began reading the Texas Boars forum daily and watching everything I could on youtube, even ordering several movies from Australia.

In the spring of 2008 I happen to meet a group of guys in Hearne, TX (I went to school at A&M so not too far down the road) who were into the sport and were gracious enough to take me along with them. Mostly over that summer and few times my senior year I had the most fun I’ve ever had doing anything chasing hogs in the woods 15-20 times.

Since moving back home to Dallas I’ve fallen out of touch with that group, but I’ve lived vicariously through all of your posts on ETHD. Last fall I was finally able to purchase my first dog, a working Doberman, and we’ve trained in Shutzhund twice a week since then. This is basically the sport of police dog work and is comprised of obedience, tracking (very different then tracking for hunting), and protection. I’ve included some working photos of my dog Hugo in this post. He also accompanies me jogging, mountain biking, camping, fishing, and canoeing.

I hope to get the chance to meet some of you in person, and look forward to actively contributing to this forum.

-Michael Sula

No he's not, but I'm certainly not taking any chances which is why I'm on the other end of the line!

Without trying to make myself sound like someone from Washington, I'd say I'm somewhere in the middle. Maybe that makes me half of a real person?! I live close to here ( http://goo.gl/maps/bei0I ) near about as much green space as you'll find in Dallas.

Our dog training club is actually in Waxahachie in Ellis county, and I go there twice a week so I'd certainly be willing to drive there or to south Dallas on a week night or weekend. Could you put me in contact with the people who hunt in that area?

Thanks to everyone who reached out to me over the past week. I got the chance to hunt Thursday night and Saturday morning, and it was every bit of fun as a I remembered it! We've got a great community going on this website, and I look forward to meeting a lot more of you.
