This boy has always been as crazy ax any pit or Am Bull - 3 1/2 months old there. He was the only one out of Two litters who was like this, others caught hard but none caught as early or with as much intensity

If the dogo was bred like the pit or like most bulldogs for as long, there would be less culls. And guys, dogos aren't supposed to bay , I've seen young dogs do it - but it really sucks when they do.

I think there is just a lack of knowledge on here about dogos... dogs... life. The same thing happened to dogos that happens to every other breed. Some people to want to pay $$$ for an unproven pup wether its a hunter or a catchdog so they buy cheap. Either a cross or some dude that says they are full blood but dogos cost too much so he is gonna sell them cheap unregistered. Well if the reg price is unjust then why don't you change that and sell your reg pups cheaper. I bet I know why...before you go out and buy a cheap dog or hunt with one check out the original breed standard of the dogo and see if it matches the discription. Then find out its background ... if there is any... and see if it came from hunting lines or just somebody making a good deal. Lets compare apples to apples. Not someones cull or mixed dog to your "tope notch" hunting dog. I've hunted with just about every breed you can put in the woods for pigs mixed and fullblood. I've seen variations of all of them that bay, catch or both. One of my smartest dogs was a pit that bayed till help got there then caught as hard as any I've seen. If you think that's a flaw in a dog... you need to get in the woods a little more. All I'm saying is show me a crappy dogo and Ill show you three just like it in your dog of choice. You get what you pay for.

I have Harley's. People will always tell you that they have a motorcycle just like it, but faster, better looking and more reliable. Oh yea its cheaper too. I have many Ford Diesel trucks. Back when Ford had the 7.3 liter Power Stroke (the best pick up series diesel ever...) every diesel guy would tell you how there brand of truck/diesel made more HP, more torque, better MPG. Now I have Dogo's. People are constantly telling me how Pits and AB are better, better, better.
People with Harley's Dont need to tell you the value of their bike. People with the the good 'ole P.S. Diesels dont approach you to tell you about the quality of there truck, Nor does a Dogo owner tell you the qualtiy of their dogs.
If you wanted a Harley, should have bought one! If you wanted a real diesel should have bought one! If you wanted a versitle hunter, guard dog and a companion, should have bought one!
Ask the Dogo breeders and hunters, when it was they switched from Pits or AB's and why.
If you dont like them, dont buy. If you can't afford them buy back-yard breeders "finished" dogs and have a ball!
Thanks for you time!

Pigrig, I'm not sure what dogos you hunted with or where they came from but they are not the dogos I have nor that I have seen. These dogs are big in comparison to most hog dogs. They develop and mature slower. My alpha male absolutely smashed the first hog he ever saw, the instant he saw it, his first time in the bay pin. His first real hunt he separated from the curs, i was irritated but within minutes he found and caught his first hog. This same dog has jumped a 6' privacy fence and runs 4 miles a day when he is not hunted, on the tread mill without any harnesses, etc... This may not be your style of dog but the dogo is not big, dumb or slow. He is now 1.5 years old!
It seems the two posts above are contradictory
Ask the Dogo breeders and hunters, when it was they switched from Pits or AB's and why.
Maybe you should ask the same question to those that breed/hunt ABs and APBTs. Rose colored glasses are seldom a good thing...

Scott- Not the point. I saw the thread and bit. Like a Dogo! Face first! I wasnt coming to you to sell you on Dogos, I fealt compeled to tell my story, To defend the Dogo. I didnt start the thread to prove I have good dogs. But Point taken
Doggie- I own 4 and out of the 4 one is stellar. 2 of them are 16 Months and 2 are 14 Months. So I am new to Dogos and I have only Hog/Dog hunted for a few years. But I am smart enough to know what didnt work and what does.
If the dog is a cull, let it be! Regardless of price.
But what I found out quickly is how many people who enjoy our sport dont have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out. So if you have any experience with them, did you pay for them, or the person who did pay for it, would they cull it. More times than not, NO! Maybe pass it off as a "Not finished" or water it down with another breed.
I hate it for anyone who has a negative experience with them. Not every breed, nor every breeder has perfect dogs. But can they cull it. I sure hope you experieince what I have and see what I saw. The guy I bought from is a savage. "Dogo dont hunt, Dogo doesnt come home". He is hunter and trainer at heart and only a breeder for mostly his own stock.
I was asked to breed my male to a local breeder's price pedigree female. Her dogs were show dogs. I declined. I dont need the money or support that. Hopefully that's not the what people see.

ok i see only one way to settle this this thread is outta control im a dog lover in general ive been huntin quite a while used both liked both but nothing has the drive and pitbull has to keep moving to keep on keeping on when the waters over your waders if you know what i mean on the other hand a dogo a sport breed dogo that i messed with had legs for miles and great power but i did not see the intensity of the pitt in the dogo and i did not see the bottom of the dogo in the pitt they r both great hunting dogs thatll get the job done depending what you like and prefer my preference is a dog thatll do the job how i like it, somehting we can all agree on there both beautiful dogs they both have positves and negatives that could be better about the dogs but what r u gonna do and before its said when i say a dogo has more bottom than i pitt my pitts were in great shape hunted an average of 4 times a week and exercised no less than 30 min everyday. i always use two i like the double tapp
