I cant believe it! I found Foot dead this morning, laying in his doghouse. For the last few months, he has been showing signs of age catching up to him but was still hunting for us. This is truely a sad day for us.

Foot was a cornerstone in our pack. A lead dog all the way. He will be sorely missed. We caught countless hogs behind that dog. He helped to train all of our pups. He was a pleasure to hunt and to be around. Always calm and quiet...... unless there was a hog around. Foot was 100% working dog. He didn't mind the company of people but he just wanted to hunt. He was one of those dogs that wasn't ever for sale at any price.

Im so glad that I at least got one breeding out of him. Three pups out of that litter are alive and well and all here at our place. All hunting well and fine examples of their dad. I just hope that they will pass his genes on to their offspring.

Foot, you can never be replaced and will always live on in our memories and hunting stories. You are a legend in our yard.

This is sad news,....I saw the subject and thought....Oh no,....I know how much y'all loved him. No words anyone of us can say will ease your pain so I won't even try. Just remember James and Dinah, that he was cared for, loved and allowed to do what he was here to do......no hunting dog could ever ask for more......R.I.P Foot.

Thank you for the kind words everyone.

And Chance, thanks for making me smile. I will always smile when I think of our story of how loose baying Foot was.

For those who don't know what Im talking about..... one time I went hunting with Chance and Crystal several years ago. Not long after we had met them. Chance likes to hunt dogs who are loose baying. Ones that will not put too much pressure on a hog. I had brought Foot and Red with me. Well Red is pretty rough and Foot was a loose baying dog.

So I told Chance that I would put Foot on the ground because he was our loose baying dog. Chance said that was fine with him. Not long afterwards, the dogs had a bay going on the side of a big pond. When we got there, there were what we thought were two bays going. One on either side of the pond. We went to the first bay where Chance's dogs had a pig bayed in the edge of the water. We got it caught and went to go to the other bay on the other side of the pond and we realized that it wasn't another bay. It was Foot, baying the pig that we had just caught from ACROSS the pond. LOL

Chance looked at me and said " I know that you told me your dog was loose baying, but dang! That has to be the loosest baying dog I have ever seen.   Hahaha!

Good memories!
