Well friday morning landowner called me and told me he seen some hogs and that they tore his field up so i told him i would be there saturday morning. Loaded my three older dogs (Fred, JJ and June) and took three young dogs ( Maniac, Smokey and Flop), And Bulldog. Got out there and right off the back, dogs struck and rolled on out and went 3/4 of a mile and bayed andi get to them and they had about a 100lb sow caught in the slough. Turned CD loose just so he could get in the action and she hauls a$$. She goes prolly a 100yds and they got her. I walk up there and this is what i seen.

Tell me my CD dont have brains! ha He always figures how to get that ear in no matter the situation.

Well i end up killing the hog and went back to the patch of woods where they struck her. They work the woods for prolly 20mins and come up with nothing. I decided to go to the other sside of the place. Go over there and i seen some big tracks. Dogs cold trailed the tracks to a pond that is on an edge of a good thick patch of woods/bloodweeds. I go to the pond and seen nothing but big wollers and tracks. Dogs work it and take the  tracks 400yds on the other side of the road and strike off and bay. I see the hog and cast my CD loose and its a caught hog. Hog weighed 230lbs. Cut my JJ dog and Flop dog bad!

One of the tracks.

The pond.

Well i start to hurry up and get dogs loaded and get them stiched up. My Gyp June was bayed the whole time i was loading dogs and hog. It was aleast an hour. I walk in there and turn the cd loose and hog looked like he was a good size hog so i was ready. He hit and this hog went to a foot and ahalf to 4 foot. He was over 300lbs easy. this is the second hog that got away from me that was 300lbs on this place and these hog are solid. they get to eat corn year round! Well i tried my hardest to put my hands on him but the cd was gettin wore out! and the hog was standing his ground. so Finally after he cut my vest in half and knocked the cd off one more last time he walked off. Kinda pissed but its part of huntin!

Great hogs and pics. The one of your catchdog on the ear through th cattle panel is a classic!! Would have been a trophy ending to your hunt if you had gotten the big daddy too,the dogs will appreciate a good rest!!! Congrats.

Yes it would have been a Hell of a trophy. But it happens. I will get him one of these days. There is lots of big hogs out there. That's the second one that got away that was pushing well over 300lbs. The first one killed two of my dogs a few mnths ago in less than 2 minutes. Im bout to start carrying two CDs from now on.
