Who has the best...

I know that yella dogs are perty but I have seen more culls in the yella dogs than any other breed due to the all mighty $$$ that looks can bring. Who has the hardest hunting, rangy yella dogs with bottom to spare...that can also reproduce good dogs?  I sure would like to try one! I am a big fan of yella dogs but big names and papers dont mean anything to me...cause I had a BEN dog and it was straight garbage!! If you dont want to answer on this thread feel free to PM me. that is true, but I have also seen more than just one make nothing but a baypen dog and I have seen 3 that were very nice dogs. I am sure there a more than the Ben dogs out there. I dont want a pasture dog, sight hunting dog, or wind dog that cant hunt the ground.  I am looking for them yella dogs that are bred to go yonder, get gone, good nose, lots of stick HUNTING dogs that will GO find a hog!

So no one gets side tracked...I am not here to debate. I had a question and I am looking for a answer. Not wanting anyone to have to defend there dogs or get all worked up. I just had bad luck with a few of them and was looking outside that line of yella dogs. I am sure you guys can relate cause I bet there are hunters that wont feed a hound, a catahoula, or whatever.. I can tell you this for sure Stacy...I won't say they're the best mostly because it's all in what you want that makes a line "the best" in your eyes, but there's a few guys on here who breed top notch yellow dogs consistently, BUT you are not going to be allowed to buy them 99% of the time.

Very true. I was looking for opinions on what the boys out west have. I just getting tired of the sometimes dog or the maybe, me too dog..I am looking for the dogs that produces pork!

If these yellow dogs are good enough to be under "The Best" thread, why are you looking for someones best, a go yonder hog dog on the dog trade?

I'm not trying to start anything by any means, it's just a question with no harm intended so don't take the question personal.

They type of yellow dogs you are referring to are out there, but most of the men and ladies who have these dogs are not much into selling puppies or dogs. One of the biggest reasons you do not see their names much or their dogs/puppies for sale is that it is to much trouble. I cant and wont garuntee you that if you get a pup from me he will be a hog finding/cattle working fool at a year old. I have no idea how you might raise and treat that pup for the year that you had him. Most people who are just getting into hunting/working these yellow dogs do not really understand their personality or the "cur dog wierdness "of many lines and expect them to be like hounds, who genarally will work for anyone who will take them out. If a person is not willing to learn about the breed and understand them then I would recommend you chose something else to hunt.

For the people who have the type of dogs you are lookig for it's not about how many hogs they can catch in a weekend, it's about the breed and preserving their working ability and style; in my opinion. Good luck with your quest for finding the dogs your are looking for.

 I have been hunting about 14 years. Have had dogs since I got my first truck at 16...I am alomost 30. I dont care to catch the most hogs, I just love the sport of hog hunting. Been trying to replace my lead dog for 3 years and have not found what I like...I have no problem raising up a dog and giving it the time it needs... I like to have 1 dog out at a time...I hate packing in dogs. I will hunt a pup with a seasoned dog for the first couple hunts, then I will put them out solo and watch them.....on the other hand i dont want a dog that takes 2-3 years to turn on and show promise.

There are alot of styles of hunting, yes. Some road hunt, some rig there dogs off trucks, some cast into blocks, some turn under feeders where the dogs might have to hunt circles to line out a track and take it alittle ways and get bayed. But my question was trying to find a good breed of yella curs that have nose, hunt, range and stick. I wanna try the best. I am a hog hunter, not a dog breeder and wont claim to be, but I would like to have a good start on a line that i can use to get me started and so I can have something for my 3 boys to hunt when its there time. If anyone reading wants to PM me some info then it will stay that way, between us. Thanks again for reading.
