Rhodesian Ridge back

My first hog dog was a 4 y/o Rhodesian Ridge Back in 4 months had her trained, best dog I have still. I want to know where can I find some more.  She is a hard worker, best tracker and don't give up, but I haven't found anyone that hunt RRB. Thanks for input.

My ridgeback just caught a big sow not 30 minutes ago.  I love mine my male is full catch and my female is rough will catch with another dog.  You could not buy mine from me.  Mine don't have the greatest nose but can and will find a pig.

Bout the only other breed of dog I will own besides a Yeller for hog hunting but........I prefer them crossed to a bulldog and used strictly for catchers. Never have owned or observed one that could take a track to my preference.

I would recommend goin with one that has been utilized strictly for hunting and has the parents to prove it.

Plenty of them on criagslist but typically all show lines. I prefer an import if you can afford one. They seem to be larger framed with the athletic ability to match than the american strains that have been here for several generations. But they are all dumb as a box of rocks. 

If you keep a sharp eye out you can get some awesome deals.
I got mine free and my buddy also got him one free. Both Imports and his had papers to boot if you into all that.

Never observed a full blooded one take and work a track to my liking. Probably been through 25 plus throughout the years from different types of backgrounds. Just not a high%  enough for me to keep trying. (I figure there could be some but no need to continue looking when that department is happily filled). 

They always impressed me on the catch department. They are extremely fast,  agile, heat tolerant, gritty dogs that will suck a running hog up in full catch gear like a noodle. I have saw numerous full blooded ones that catch hard but throw a dash of pit in em and they are war horses.

I had one as a kid growing up that was out of imported parents. She was by far the best dog I have ever owned.

Around the dogo range if not more. Just to get one that's born here with imported lines in it, is gonna cost you a pretty penny. Your best bet for cost efficiency is watch the pounds and craigslist. They seem to be a popular breed that ppl fall in love with as a pup, then by a year old they're trying to do anything to get rid of them. Because the ppl don't give it adequate attention and the pup becomes a terror, tearing up the house and yard and what not.

Yep thats about right, but you might find someone with hunting stock for cheaper but i haven't found one yet.

Yep just keep an eye on the classifieds. There is always someone getting rid of one in the big cities that just isn't working out in the one bedroom apartment. 

I picked up seven of them all with papers couple years ago from a divorce situation. Only stipulation was they all had to go. 
Kept two for catchers and resold the rest. 

Have picked up two since then under similar circumstances that were direct imports and observed several more available. 
Hell improve you chances and advertise a free home to one.

I will have a litter sometime spring summer she is in heat not but want to hunt her this winter if she continues I will breed her on her next heat.  Hunters will get them some cheaper but pet homes they are not going to be cheap lol.

We must have only had the show lines imported here because I've never seen a full blood one with any heart for either baying or catching.  Have seen some crossbred ones that worked ok but not that often.

The first few hog hunting trips I made behind dogs were with RRB's x BMC's. The fella we hunted with had a pair of litter mates 1/2 & 1/2. They were leggy and could really run. They didn't have any problem finding hogs. A few years later one of my buddies got a catch dog that was RRB x pit and he was a great catch dog with a very good disposition toward everything except hogs. I picked up one of those full blooded ones years later. He was a grown dog when I got him & had been a family pet. No interest in hogs. He was one of the big framed dogs & stout as could be. I traded him to an old boy down South of that King Ranch country.  He was going to cross that dog with some of his leopard cow dogs. I do not know how that turned out.

hey im going to have a litter pretty soon and they are huntters hunt the dad and one off the pup purebreed has one of mine. would like to sale them to huntting homes price will be right didnt really want this to hapend she just got in with my male. but they are larger type rr and will hunt dad will wind really well and the full sister to these pups hunts.
