Gritty dog needs to back up

I have a three year old BMC male dog that wants to catch. He is real gritty but can't hold one or fight real well because he only has 3 legs. He lost one to nerve damage from a big boar. I don't have any rough dogs and dont intend to. I guess the problem is its my wife's favorite dog and he is not going anywhere. No that your have the back ground so every reply isn't " Send him to my house".
I have a large sow in the pen. I have tried putting him on a long line and giving him enough rope to get close but not catch. It seemed to work for a while. Can I use that technique in conjunction with shock therapy. Has anyone tried this?
I am open to any idea. I know he won't last long the way he is acting now. Remember this is a 3 legged tripod of my wife's.
Thanks for the help.

He might be getting rough because he's three legged and can't hang in a long race. It's his compensation for not being able to run one down, he just catches em.

Put him on a big mean hog by himself without any cut gear. He'll get hammered a few times and decide its alot better for his health to stand back. The times ive done it, it either made the dog straight catch no bark, or it made em back up. Good luck

I had 1 that was doing the samething and i tried a muzzle n shock theropy n it didnt work for long. Mine wasnt completely 3 legged, but hobbled on his back leg. Wasnt much i could do but put him on a mean hog n like kid7 said, it made him more catchy

Your best bet is to hunt him alone or just leave him at home. I have a crippled dog that's the same way. He wasn't too rough until he got crippled now he thinks he's a catch dog.

I've had many some loose some rough and some suicidal rough
And in my opinion there is no changing em and I noticed that
With age the rough dog typically got rougher and more confident
The size of the hog and collars never did it I just figured out
That somewhere between 3 and 5 there confidence and the right
Hog wood meet up and on that day which I had no control of
They would meet their maker the question is "to hunt em or not"
And that's a personal decision
Maybe I'm wrong and you'll get lucky
